About Me

Dreams are necessary to life but most times this is killed by the environment we find ourselves in. But I have a strong conviction that good things happen to those who hustle that is why I postpone death by living, by suffering, by error, by risking, by giving, by losing.
At a younger age, my father refused to cater for me even though he was one of the richest men in our village because he had large acres of cocoa farm. It was my mum who single handed took care of me throughout my education which nearly cost her marriage since to my father, a woman's place is in the kitchen not in the classroom.
My mother died two months before I completed senior high school education. Sadly, I could not continue schooling but must help my step mother in her farming business to support my younger siblings in school. This is how i was introduced into farming of vegetables. but farming as a serious business was introduced to me by students from College of tropical Agriculture, when these students came to our village to do their research work. So it was after their visit that i decided to save from the proceeds from the farm that i was assisting my mum to get money to acquire knowledge on how to do vegetable farm as to raise my family. I am a married woman with two kids. My husband has been layoff his job due to the recent power crisis that the country was facing and as a result he is assisting me now to farm cucumber until he gets a new job. I strongly belief that with zidisha in my boat of life i will be able to produce more to get money to support my dependents.

My Business

I cultivate vegetables such as tomatoes, cabbage, carot and several others on a rented half an acre plot of land with a current bags of ten for every cultivation period.
I long planned to cultivate on large farm land but due to my financial strength this dream is not coming on reality. My profit is not much as i could not cultivate large farm land. But my farm products are easily bought by customers because my proximity to large market at Goaso in the nearby district where most big time trader in vegetable from Sunyani and Kuamsi come it in bulk. To many youth in my country and specifically my village, they prefer a white color job rather than farming. They do see farmers as potentially poor people who lacked formal education. But I chose this business willingly as I intrinsically motivated myself of positive and life changing results if hard work is employed.
Typically my cost of production covering rent of land, cost of land preparation, seeds, chemicals and irrigation cost is GHS 1,000 and my revenue most often around GHS 1,000
I used the profit to pay my wards and my two siblings schools fees and the rest for foodstuffs for home

Loan Proposal

I will used the loan for the following significant inputs for this farming season:
1. Land rent cost for 2 acrage $ 120
2. Fertilizers $ 90
3. Agrochemicals for vegetables $100
4. Land preparation cost $40
These inputs will help increased my profit and help me support my husband to rear the pigs I have help him to acquire until such a time he will be able to apply for a loan from zidisha. All these I am hoping to achieved with a targeted income of $ 300 within four months
