About Me

I am Joseph Wambugu. I grew up and studied in rural parts of Kenya except for University where i joined Kenyatta university in Nairobi for my Bachelors degree in Biotechnology. Currently ,i work as a technician with Sistema.bio biogas company company in Kiambu County in Central Kenya .My main work involves installing biogas for farmers here and troubleshoot operations. However, i am exploring ways of starting my own work at home bussiness and be my own boss. I have identified mushroom farming as the best entreprenueral activity that suits me for now. My background in biology, experience in farming and availability of free time makes me high;y suited for this role. i have started on small scale and i intend to scale up with time and move to self employment. Mushroom is a high value crop here in Kenya and i intend to cash in on the unmet demands for button Mushrooms

My Business

This is the game plan. I have set up a 10 by 10 greenhouse house for cultivating mushrooms. To shorten the process of farming mushrooms, i will buy ready substrate and spawns from established farms so that it will just take two to three weeks from incubation to harvesting time. Harvesting will continue for two months from the date of first harvest meaning that i will have a steady stream of income for two months before starting a new harvesting cycle. The inputs, spawn and substrate and labor costs are the main costs in farming mushrooms and that's the main reason I am applying for this loan. an I am looking forward for your kind support in starting this venture. Regards
