About Me

I am 28 years old, married with two children.I am a business lady and owner of SELINA FISHERIES at Khumusalaba market. I finished high school with a C + and could not join university or college because of
finances problem.I worked in the informal sector selling milk,mandazi,chapati,rice,tea to people for one year so that I can get money to make a living.I was able to save funds
to pay for my new business rent as well as well as capital. After that I was able to get a room in one of the buildings so that I can start selling fish on large scale.I gained a lot of courage because I knew this will help me a lot to earn a living as I take care of my family. Fortunately I was introduced to busia where fish is sold at low price n produced on large scale.My land has unique features as we enjoy fresh air from the forest near us and also we get more fun as we take a walk on misango hills.My children one would like to be a pilot while the other would like to be lawyer when they grow up.During my free time I love watching movies,reading the bible and playing ball games with my children.I also read magazines,newspapers,business documentaries.I have come from very far,
from one time being employed in a charcoal store.After the death of my mother,my grandmother was the one who took care of me and took me to school and she made me what I am now.With my husband working with a local Ngo I have been able to manage some tasks which I couldn't on my own.With all these God is is everything.

My Business

My business is of selling all types of fish that are available here in kenya which include omena,tilapia,perch,obambula etc.There is enough demand for fish in my area because a lot of people like eating fish than buying meat which is quite expensive than fish.I also operate a small hotel where I have employed three people to help me while I am engaged elsewhere.I pay rent of $ 70 for rent in total and my typical income per month is around $ 250.Am able to pay them $ 2.5 each daily.One person is the one who helps me to sell fish to customers while the other two are in the hotel.Both the hotel and fish shop are about 500 metres apart.In my business I am able to pay fees for my children in private school and I also plant maize and beans which helps me a lot in my hotel.Instead of buying the cereals from elsewhere I usually use the ones I planted.The fish I sell especially the powder and dust I use to give to my chicken as they are good and have nutrients.I also take the left overs in my hotel to feed my chicken.I have kept local chicken as they are resistant to many diseases as compared to the hybrid ones.

Its my sincere appeal to lenders to consider my loan application because am in need of money to expand my business and I came across zidisha when I was on the internet surfing.I will keep high standard of behavior in regard to zidisha terms and conditions as I know there are more advantages I will gain once I be a member as well I understand I have to pay so that other people can also borrow.
