About Me

My names are Lencer Nabwire, I am 21 years of age and a single lady living with my three siblings two girls and one boy. One is in form one, the other in class five and the last born in class three. I live in Nairobi at Kariobangi south which is in the eastern part of the capital city of Kenya (Nairobi). I completed my O levels in the year 2012 and I had passed though not as well as I expected but my family’s financial struggles made it unable for me to continue. I started working at Veggie at Jomo Kenyatta airport as a casual till I had saved up to begin my vending business as I had no experience to get a well paying job. I sell vegetables like kale, cabbages, tomatoes, onions, pumpkins, eggplants, bell peppers, courgettes, coriander, carrots, lettuce, potatoes and fruits like bananas, oranges, mangoes, avocados, jack fruits, apples and passion fruits. I recently started selling sweets for children, books, pens both pencils, biro pens. I love being self employed therefore I do my business with passion. I am hoping to expand my business to sell more jack fruits, charcoal, sugar and cooking fat which my customers have been asking for so much

My Business

I am a vegetables and fruits vendor in my estate at Kariobangi south opposite Total petrol station outer ring road. I buy my vegetables and fruits from various wholesaling markets and peoples farms I buy from korogocho market, gikomba market and muthurwa market as they sell at wholesale prices and times I send money to my aunt in Busia county to buy fruits and vegetables directly from peoples farms which is much much cheaper and I resell them in small quantities at retail prices to my customers. In my area the demand for fresh vegetables and fruits is very high as many people pass through this place as my stall is located just next to a major road leading to various hospitals for example the Metropolitan hospital, The Nairobi hospital, Kenyatta national hospital and matter hospital. Many of my customers are people going to visit their sick loved ones in hospital as I sell fresh fruits at very good and fair prices. The number of my customers in area is overwhelming and the demand is very high for my products. I sometimes sel traditional vegetables on the order of my customers like kunde, mchicha, terere, manage and mitoo. Though my business is so enjoyable it has its challenges like sometimes I am unable to sell everything and I have no fridge to store them so I end up selling those remnants at poor prices. My monthly costs are Ksh 17,000 and I get a total income of Ksh 28,000 and after chucking off my expenditures I get a profit of Ksh 8,000

Loan Proposal

I am a vegetable and fruits vender and this products are highly perishable if not well preserved and this would lead to me varying my prices in the negative side which I make loses. I also make fruit puddings and juices which my customers say are very sweet but not as cold as they would desire. I would urge Zidisha lenders to loan me to be able to purchase a small fridge to enhance my business. This will enable me grow in terms of business wise and customer base because my juices are all natural and healthy all soda drinkers will opt for the healthy natural fruit juices I make and if they find them hot they would not come back but if cold and adequately quenched their thirst then I will definitely keep them and for an entrepreneur to get a customer mean
