About Me

Hello. I am Pauline. I hail from a town in Kenya called Ongata Rongai. I come from a family of seven- four siblings and my mother (My father passed away when I was in High school). Currently I live in Juja town next to Jomo Kenyatta University. I have studied entrepreneurship in University and have every intention to be an entrepreneur my entire life. Therefore, I would say being an entrepreneur is my occupation.

I started a business out of intrigue for starting a venture. Since I was younger, I have always wanted to own a business and take it to great heights. Emira Concept is the first of many companies. Profits I get from Emira are partly reinvested and the rest go to my personal upkeep.

In my free time, I enjoy listening to contemporary music, attending plays at theaters, reading African literature and participating in charities- runs, donating, volunteering. I enjoy the Arts very much.

I am passionate about business and ready to work hard to achieve goals that I have set for myself.

My Business

I own a company called Emira Concept. It is my main source of income. Emira Concept deals with selling of handbags, clutch bags, purses, travel bags and many other forms of bags. Up to recently, I have been marketing my products from door-to door until I resolved to open a Face book page to expand my clientele base (Face book page is Emira Concept). So far I am very happy with the response I am receiving online and my clientele base is growing.

I understand that the fashion/clothing industry is rivaled with stiff competition but I try my best to stay ahead of the larger companies by trying to always offer a unique products that differ from the ones flooded in the market. I also try to offer as friendly as possible prices for my clients. In addition, my clientele enjoy a one on one interaction with me and I strive to always foster good relationships . I even email them photos of new stock upon request and give them text notification of new stock.

My business is profitable as I have over the months cultivated a good relationship with my clients who are recurrent and continuously buy from me. They also refer me to their friends who also show high interest in my products.
In a month I can sell from 10-25 handbags that range from about $20-$40. My returns from sales range from between $200-$550. From this, I have to subtract the initial cost of the handbags and operation costs such as transport costs for delivery and airtime for calls to clients. The expenses amount to between $80-$440 depending with the price of stock and deliveries. Therefore, in a month I can make between $110-$275. With this money, I invest up to 50% back in the company and the rest caters for personal expenses.

Any loan I receive from Zidisha will be purely used for the purpose of growing Emira Concept.

Loan Proposal

Hi Zidisha Lenders. Firstly I really want to thank you all for the financial support you have shown me and other entrepreneurs. My first loan has helped me very much to build my clientele and increase my sales immensely. In addition, it has helped me understand buyer preferences and thus, I try my best to capitalize on that. The gratitude I have is immeasurable.
I come here again to request a second loan of 207 dollars. Purpose of this loan is to increase my stock as sometimes I find it overwhelming to satisfy my clients demand for my handbags. Paying for facebook ads has increased my clientele base requiring me to shift towards satisfying this demand.
In addition, I am transitioning to a more reliable supplier with better quality of handbags than my current one. My clients come first and if indeed I can offer them better quality bags then I shall not hesitate.
My shifting to another supplier will not be an immediate occurrence and I choose to take it slowly. This first loan may not increase my stock greatly but it will be essential to know my clients response to the new handbags and gauge their interest in them.
I believe business requires constant improvement and mine is no different. A huge opportunity still lies out there and I plan to exploit it. The internet has been hugely embraced by many people especially the working class as they do not have time to go shopping since they put in extensive hours of work.
I still intend to continue using facebook as an advertising tool but from the profits made from selling the handbags. Thus, this second loan of 207 dollars will be entirely for the purpose of expanding my stock. Any assistance given will be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

    Hi Pauline,

How are things going? It has been a bit quiet from your side. How is the business, and your health?

    Best,

      Hi Gerdek,

I am doing fine. Yes, I know I have gone quiet; my apologies. Business is good thus far into the year. Sales are going up steadily after the January blues. I have boot sales and exhibitions I hope to attend in the coming months to scout for more clientele.

My health is also good. I am taking care of myself and delegating tasks where necessary:-)

      Pauline.

Hello Lenders, this is to inform you on how the last loan impacted my life; I used the funds to expand my stock of handbags. This came as a result of the coming in of new clients and the demand being higher than the supply I had. In addition, through the loan, I was able to cultivate good relationships with a supplier who I look forward to working with in the long term.
With time, it has become necessary for me to delegate deliveries of handbags to a lady so I could focus on generating new leads and constant supply.
I am happy that I am on the journey to financial independence:)

    Hi Lenders,

Allow me to register my appreciation for you accepting to lend me your money. My business has been doing quite well but I have been away from the business for 2 weeks - a period in which it remained closed as I did not have a trustworth person to take care of it. I have sorted out the personal challenge I had and Im back to business, better and more energetic.

I am putting an extra effort to ensure that I regularise my payments accordingly. Meanwhile, I kindly request that I reschedule my loan to smaller contribution per week. I would be able to return to my older payment plan soon as my business picks up again.

Thank you for your understanding on this matter,

    Regards,
    Pauline Kagiri

    Hi Lenders,

I talked to Ms. Pauline Kagiri earlier today over her delayed submission of funds. She informed me that she has had health challenges - checking in and out of hospital - for the last 3 weeks hence the reason for delays as she was not engaged meaningfully in her business. Good news is that she promised to regularise the payment soonest as possible.

Many thanks for your understanding on this matter.

Pauline, trusting you to fulfil your word. Cheers.

    Regards,
    Samuel Muli
