About Me

I am Peter Maganga, 25 years old married with one child. I live in Nairobi and I have a music school in Kahawa Wendani town afew kilometers in the outskirts of Nairobi. I have a degree in Music (B.Mus) from Kenyatta University.
I always had a passion for music since I was young. I participated in music festivals up to national levels from where I took it up as a career.
Setting up a music school has not been without challenges with since I am the sole bread winner for my family. I have been able to purchase some equipment for the school but because of the family needs, the process of purchasing everything I need has been staled. I believe with the loan from zididsha I will be able to increase my equipment and thus my student's capacity.

My Business

My wife is a full time mother who occasionally works online from the house. Since her young business has not picked up, I cover a lot of the expenses of running two business and raising a family. My music school so far has 10 students who are forced to share instruments during lessons as they not enough.
With the loan from zidisha I will be able to add a couple of more equipment that will reduce the overload on the current instruments, especially guitars. This will translate into being able to take on more students as it within the next four months and add two more guitars in six months and a piano within the next year.
I hope to expand my school and capture the whole of kahawa area and its environs. My vision is to introduce this services to learning institutions with in the area and create a culture of music appreciation, as well as help children learn basic life skills like discipline through art.

Loan Proposal

With the loan from zidisha I will be able to purchase an extra guitar to add to the three that I already have. This will bring the sharing down to two students per instrument as opposed to the current situation where one guitar is shared among three students.
With the loan I will be able to; reduce the number of students sharing instruments, increase the number of guitars to six within the next four months, increase the number of students to 15 within the next six months, introduce guitar learning to one school within the area and have at least 10 students.
With the current leaving standards in Nairobi continuing to escalate, it will take me longer to achieve this goals if I take this journey alone. With the friendly loan from zidisha, I will not only be able to achieve my goals within a short time, but also be able to comfortably meet my responsibilities as an entrepreneur, father and husband.
