About Me

My name is Mary Nyarko; a native of Agona Duakwa in the Central Region of Ghana. I was born and bred in Agona Duakwa, Ghana and still lives at Agona Duakwa.

As a young lady of twenty-eight (28) years of age who holds a Bachelor of Education in Community Based Rehabilitation and Disability Studies from University of Education, Winneba – Ghana, I aimed at starting my own business in the community in which I currently live (Agona Duakwa) since searching for a job is becoming a global problem in my country (Ghana). I currently work with Salvation Army Community Rehabilitation Project, Agona Duakwa as a Rehab Personnel (Contract Staff).

My Business

My personal business as a trader at our community market started in the year 2014 with a current capital base of GH¢ 5,000.00 (USD 1,157.41). I started as tomatoes and pepper seller on table top but have currently increase my product base to all kinds of vegetables, spices, foodstuffs, and smoked fishes with the little monthly earnings from my contract job at Salvation Army Community Rehabilitation Project. Currently, the local government has constructed a market complex for the community but it’s going out for a price. It’s my dream of owning one of the shops in the market for business expansion.

I have a large customer base due to the good interpersonal relationship that I have with them (members of the community) and still hoping to expand my customer base to other communities around.

Combining my trading business with the Rehab Personnel job is not an easy task at all but with the assistance from my lovely mum, things are just working out perfectly. In my absence at the market, my mum takes over. Such a lovely mum I have.

Loan Proposal

One of my major visions in life as a young university graduate in my family is to work hard and provide the basic needs of my family especially my mum and younger sister. Creating a happy family has been my responsibility after the death of my father since the year 2005 when I was a small girl. I always do promise my mum to make her happy at all time. By so doing, I have been helpful to her in all her dealings and she has also been there for me in time difficulties. Now that I'm growing old, I think it is time to make some properties for myself and the family. In view of this, I have thought of acquiring a piece of land to start building a house for myself and my small family.

Cost of rent is becoming high these days in Ghana. Hence, it's high time I also start my own building project. Cost of one plot of land in my community range between USD 445.00 and USD 557.00. This loan, when approved, will be added to my business savings to acquire a piece of land for the project.

Repayment of the loan will be out of my business savings and allowances from my current employer. This will not affect my business working capital.
