About Me

My name is Naomi Muiruri, born in Nakuru county in a family of six where I am the second born. My parents are small scale farmers and it is this activity that they used to raise us. I attended primary and secondary school there and later relocated to Mombasa to live with my cousin and also to look for a job. Getting a job without vocational training was not easy and but I finally got a job as a hotel waiter.

With savings from my earnings, I enrolled for a short course in computer packages. Through further savings, I managed to open a business that deals with selling mobile phone accessories. I am currently doing a course in Business Management on part-time basis.
I am a hardworking person and I believe in earning from my sweat.

My Business

My business deals with sale of mobile phone accessories. I started this business a few years ago when I noticed there is a high demand for these items. The products I sell include phone batteries, covers, earphones etc. This items range from $1 to as high as $10.

Due to their cheap prices, these items move very fast and I keep replenishing my stock. My main clients are young adults and school students.
I make a net profit of about $ 200 per month. I use this money to pay for my education and to support my now aging parents back home. My desire is to expand the business and start selling mobile phones for more income.

Loan Proposal

If given this money I will spend it as follows -
1. Assorted phone batteries at a total cost of $25
2. Assorted phone covers at a total cost of $25
3. Assorted earphones at a total cost of $25
I will use the balance to buy some books that I need for my course.

Thank you.

My business has not been doing well for the last few months. I need a bit of time to bring it to the level it was before. For this reason, I wish to reduce my weekly repayment to KES 200 until the situation improves. Thanks.

I got my first loan with zidisha toward the end of last year. This is the time that business picks up due to the onset of the festive season. I moved very fast and bought an inventory of mobile phone accessories such as memory, batteries and skins. I was able to sell them very fast and as evidenced by my loan repayment record, the cash flow has been very good.

I now feel ready to venture into sale of mobile phones which is more lucrative than the accessories.
