About Me

My name is Elizabeth Waithera. I was born in Makueni County in Eastern side of Kenya. I went to primary and then secondary school for my basic education. I was born in a family of seven where I am the sixth born. I am married with a 5 year old son. My husband is a photographer and we work together to meet our household expenses.
After my secondary education, I joined a computer college where I trained as a computer operator. Later with the help of my husband, I started a small computer bureau where I give services such as typing, design work and photocopying.

I am a hardworking woman and I believe in making progress year after year. My desire is to expand my business and provide cyber-cafe services so that I can serve my clients adequately.

My Business

I run a computer bureau in Mombasa town where I offer services such as typing, typesetting, photocopying etc. My typical job entails typing documents for my clients such as letters, college students’ thesis and project work. I also do artwork for different types of publications such as brochures, business cards and music DVD covers.
I have harboured a dream of starting a cyber-cafe to increase my income by tapping into a large demand for these services in the town. I have failed to realize this dream due to lack of funds since getting funding from local banks is quite difficult. My husband is overwhelmed by house expenses and that is why a Zidisha loan will come in handy for this venture.

If given the $150, I will be able to purchase and extra used computer (I am currently using 1) and get internet connection to my office. This way I will be able to start the cyber and later expand it when I acquire more computers in the near future.

Loan Proposal

I run a computer bureau where I offer a variety of services. I do typing and typesetting work for my clients. In my business, speed is of essence because most clients will not wait to be served for long. I am currently in need of another computer which will increase the efficiency of my services.

I also need to get internet connection since my clients send their work to their printing press which is outside the town. This makes me leave my work station to go and seek internet services elsewhere. Needless to say, this wastes a lot of time and inconveniences my clients a lot.

With loan, I will be able to buy an extra computer ($100) and connect it with internet (set-up fee $500). This computer will be dedicated for internet work only and I will also start offering browsing services to other clients when the computer is not very busy.
