About Me

Hello there I Hope you are al keeping well in the midst of the Covid 19 pandemic.

I am Basil Okello Onginjo a 26 year old male living in Nairobi Kenya. I have 4 siblings.

I am a recent graduate of the University of Nairobi where I graduated with a law degree.

I am currently working as a legal assistant at a law firm in Nairobi.

I enjoy working in the legal sector defending people’s rights.

My hobbies include travelling long distances, cooking and meeting new people.

I love the outdoors nature and art.

I am venturing into the art business to add to my income.

My Business

Income sources

I work as a Legal Assistant, the salary i earn from this job is my main source of income

My business plan is to sell framed African Art pieces to supplement my income.

The Product

I will be selling framed African Batik Art pieces. See https://www.ebay.com/b/African-Batik/165462/bn_71609777

The product will consist of purchased African Batik.

I will then frame them in a wooden frame.

Marketing

I will market my products by word of mouth and on social media.
Social media marketing is helpful because it increases conversion rates, improves brand awareness and helps you reach you targeted audience.
Social Media Advertising Costs

Social Media Platform Average Advertising Cost (CPM)
Instagram $7.91 per 1000 impressions
YouTube $9.68 per 1000 impressions
LinkedIn $6.59 per 1000 impressions

Sales

I intend to sell my art pieces on classifieds in Kenya

I also intend to sell on Etsy
https://www.etsy.com/

The site charges $0.20 to list an item, and the listing stays active for four months. If your product sells, Etsy charges 3.5% of the selling price as a commission

The product will be retiling at $ 20, an estimated cost of production is $15 inclusive of incidental costs like transport , thus a profit of 5$ per piece.

Loan Proposal

Hello ,friends as i have stated in my business i am a budding farmer ,more specifically goat breeder .I currently have one male goat and would like to buy another one because i would like to have better breeds .My plan is buy a male goat ,wait for for my female goats totaling two now to give birth then i sell my first male goat .My female goats are due to produce kids in about for weeks .I am doing this to avoid inbreeding ,your lending would a allow me to expand my little venture thanks you and God bless.

I took a loan worth $ 400 in 2014 , the loan greatly helped expand my animal business.

    Hi Basil,

Thanks for your update and honesty. I'm sorry for your misfortune! My advice for you would be to not use your savings to repay your Zidisha loan but to use it to get your life on track and restart business.

In the mean time reschedule your loan to the longest repayment period possible allowing you to pay the least amount per week.

    Good luck to you!
