About Me

iam Richard Barasa,I am 27 year old father of two children moses and Jacob. I graduated from Kenyatta University with a degree in Agricultural Extension in 2012. I tried searching for a job but was unlucky to find permanent job. I landed a 1 year contract job that ended in 2013. I tried looking for another job unsuccessfully. Since my savings were running out and the city life was becoming difficult ,I decided to travel back to the village.
I got to village with $200 savings ,I decided to practice farming as I looked for another job. I planted tomatoes that changed my mind set. after the harvest,I knew I would only expand my farm and the farm was going to be my permanent employer. I have expanded my farm to three acres and I supply kales, cabbages and tomatoes to various schools.
My daughter wants to be an economist when she grows up and my son wants to be a lawyer when she grows up.
I am a social person,I love children and love sharing with others information and learning new things.

My Business

I do horticulture farming,The goods that I provide to esteemed customers include kale's,cabbages and tomatoes.Good quality produce gives me a competitive edge against my competitors.
Food products are always in demand here as most house holds dont practice agriculture but consume Agricultural.
I choose to do farming because I was knowledgeable about agriculture and white collar job was not forth coming ,however it turned out that farming was the best employer.
I spend average $150-$200 on production and my revenues range is $300-$450 per month.
I spend my profits on paying fees for my children, taking care of my utility bills and paying fees for my siblings.
