About Me

I am 40 years old, a teacher by profession and a layreader at my local church. I was born in a polygamous family, my father had two wives and 10 children, since he was just a peasant farmer he struggled to school all of us. I was lucky to have been educated upto secondary level before he died. After his death, life changed to the worst, we were forced to work in the farms and other casual jobs to sustain the family as my mum was before then, a housewife.
I worked tirelessly to help fend for the family and also raise fees to go to a teacher's college where I graduated. Currently I am a teacher by profession, married with five children.
Low salary compared to the ever rising cost of living and the need to educate my children challenged me to start agri-business to help sustain my family.

My Business

My business is farming. I grow different types of crops depending on the season and market viability. Examples of crops I grow are, maize, beans, sunflower, vegetables etc. Mostly I choose short term crops because they don't require a lot of capital and the demand is high and also you earn after a short time normally 2-4months.
I chose this kind of business because I have first hand experience having worked in the farms for long before going to college.
I rotate these crops every season on my 2 acre piece of land,.typically I use about $85 to plough the shamba, $45 to harrow,$85 for seeds and fertilizer and $100 for labour from planting to harvesting. This season I am specializing in maize and beans. After harvesting I will make a gross income of about $550 from the maize and $250 from the beans. The profits realized from this venture is used to pay fees for my children. Thanks

Loan Proposal

Dear lenders, I have had this dream for sometime now, the dream to complete my permanent house, if funded I will buy 15bags of cement and 3lorries of sand at a cost of $170, then labour approx. $50 this will be enough to atleast plaster my brick-walled house and give it a good look. Since I am a teacher and a layreader at our local church, so many people look at me for encouragement that's why I have to maintain good example by having a decent home. Thanks in advance and be blessed.
