About Me

I am Nicholas Odoyo Omenda, I was born in 1949 in the rural village of Kisui, Kasgunga Ward of Homa Bay County in the Republic of Kenya. I was the 4th born among 7 siblings (1 girl and 6 boys). My father was a staunch Christian and had one wife. My early childhood was very good and my parents took us to Church and other religious functions.

I got my education in Government funded schools all sponsored by the Catholic Church. Upon completion of my high school education, I joined a teacher's training college and got employed as a teacher with the Government of Kenya.

I married in 1977 and God has blessed our marriage with 7 children (4 boys and 3 girls). My 1st born has completed his college education and my 4th born son will join his 2nd year in university in September 2015 and my last born daughter is doing her 3rd year in high school.

I retired from the Government of Kenya as a teacher in the year 2004 and upon my retirement, I started a mixed farm where I grow horticultural products like vegetables, tomatoes, potatoes, paw paw and fruits. I also do a tree nursery and conservation business in my farm as I sell tree seedlings to local farmers and schools.

In my free time, I do participate in Church and community development activities like environmental conservation.

My Business

I do grow high on demand horticultural crops that I do sale to households seeking food. I do sale at a very competitive pricing and this has made me to develop a closer work relationship with several clients and households that largely depends on my farm for their fresh food needs. I am seeking low interest loans to enable me expand my business. I need to buy farm tools and seeds to enable me prepare more seedlings and plant more horticultural crops to enable me meet the high demand placed on my food crops, fruits & tree seedlings. I will use the ZIDISHA platform to expand my business, this a worthy lending platform that I am privilleged to be part of and I will strive to remain credit worthy in order to succeed in expanding my farm through loans raised from ZIDISHA.

Loan Proposal

I am requesting for a loan of KES 19,708 to enable me buy the following items to improve my farm business.
- 2 wheelbarrow at a cost of KES 7,000
- 3 Fork Jembes at a cost of KES 3,700
-3 Water can kit at a cost of KES 1, 500
-Assorted trees seedlings at a cost of KES 7,000
-Pesticides at a cost of KES 2,653

With the loan, I will be able to plant in good time when the planting season begins early next month and sale my harvest in good time as well. I project a profit increment of 35% and I look forward to meeting the high demand of food products from my farm.
