My name is Judith Adhiambo. I am a Kenyan, female born in 1987. I am a Christian. I am the first born in a family of six members( my Dad , Mum, two brothers and one sister) my home town is Oyugis in Homa Bay County in the Lake Victoria region.
My early life was really hard, my parents were low income earners and we had to walk bare footed without clothes most of the time since my parents could not afford to buy food. I am a trained Hairdresser. I was inspired by one of my customers who challenged me to use the skills I have in own business and create employment to others. I am now doing business in Mbita town. I deal in beauty and hair products. My main customers are the Salonists, and Mbita township residents. I am currently residing in Usare Village the same place, I operate my business.
In my free time, I do participate in Church activities where I help with Hospital visitation programme as the chairperson. I like visiting the sick and consoling with the bereaved.
My business is called Beuty Care Salon. As the name suggests, I turn people’s faces into baby-like smooth face. I normally specialize with ladies and young girls. Through the years, I have created a valuable cluster of clients and they are my main source of clients. Their referrals are also very crucial in my work.
In a busy month, I make about $150 which I plough back 30% to the business and use 50% for my family food needs, upkeep and support my children's education. 20% of the profit is I do save for business expansion. I am hoping to open a beauty school in near future if I get ZIDISHA loans in future upon repayment of my 1st loan. I am hoping that, with partners like Zidisha, I will be able to realize this dream very soon.
I am seeking a loan of KES 9,130 to buy;
Hair Salon Supplies at KES 3,500
Hair brushes, combs at KES 2,500: I will buy assorted types of combs and hairbrushes like the round brush, square brush, wide-toothed comb, tail-end comb, etc.
Scissors and hair clippers at KES 1,000: to buy assorted types of hair clippers, hair clipper blades and hair scissors.
Other Supplies: at KES 3,130 I will buy hair clips, mixing bowls, aprons, water sprayers, applicator brushes, paper towels, hand held mirrors, geyser and rubber or plastic gloves.
With the new capital injection, my saloon will grow and the projected profit margin will increase by 30%. The increased amount will be used to meet my family basic needs. I will repay the loan on time and be able to access more loans for further business expansion.
