My name is Rebecca Owusuaa and i am a Ghanaian. i am a young lady with zeal to make life better for myself the best way i can through the right way. i am hailing from one of the deprived districts in Ghana. After high school, i lost my dad who was taking me through school and in view of that i had to forget about anything with the name further education.
i then took my part of the estates my father left me and started this small shop of selling provisions as in biscuits soft drinks and sachet water in my locality in my area, my mates ridiculed me for such decision but i knew i made the best of decisions given my situation as of that time.
We have a very rich culture in my locality where we have national parks and water falls so we often have tourist coming around both local and foreigners. i am really determined to grow my business but due to the lack of collateral, banks will not extend to me loans to expand my business. It was a relieve when i was told all about Zidisha.
So at least now my dreams of growing my shop to be one of the best in my locally have some life now for i believe that i will receive some help so that i can keep going forward despite been leveled against the odds
i operate a mini super market but it is really on a very small scale as it stands now with very limited stock. i sell the variety of biscuits, soft drinks like the coca cola and then milk powder in sachets and sachet water too.
In-terms of the demand condition, they are very much in demand since people have to walk a very long distances to go and get most of these things if they do not get one from my shop. So the problem is having to do with me since i mostly cannot satisfy the need due to inadequate capital.
i make at least 30% profit on all the capital that i have ever invested into this business and as i want to grow, i always put back my profits into the business with the hope that it will help me grow my business but this option have not been enough
i will be using the entire amount to go for inventory and get goods into my shop. i will use $40 to purchase ten bags of sachet water, $50 for biscuits, $60 for three boxes of Nescafe, $15 for washing soap and the last $100to purchase the soft drinks, five crates of coca cola, and two crates of malt for sale to myself, it will increase my profit margin and also instill confidence in my shop that when customers come to my shop, they can have all that they are looking for
and to my community, it will save them the stress of having to walk long distances to buy such goods for consumption including drinking water.
With this new inventory and capital injected, i expect my profit to increase to about 50% and this as carefully calculated will enable me to repay back my loan in full and on time as per scheduled
thank you.
