My name is David a former student of Namgoi primary school and Wareng high school in Nakuru county. My education life did not go beyond secondary school as a result of financial challenges since i was raised by a single parent. My father succumbed to cancer while i was in class three. Since then i have been struggling to meet my daily needs and also maintain our family since i am now the bread winner and most of the responsibility are shoulder on me, I came from a from a family of six, three boys and three girls. Being the first born, after the death of my father i had to shoulder all the burden.
In school i always struggled to work hard so that i could get a sponsor to take me to the University but unfortunately i did not perform so well to attract the sponsors attention as a result of constantly being out of school because of school fees challenges thus after form four i had to look for means of survival else where. I had some goats back at home and thought of breading them and rearing them so that i could take them to the market for sale. I took this as the only available opportunity that would help me foot all my problems and help my family. Therefore i do business of buying, rearing and selling goats.
i sale goats to farmers, butcher operators and take some to the hotels for consumption by the customers who goes there for lunch and other meals.
The goods that i offer are on demand because the butcher operators require goat meat for sale on daily basis on the other hand also majority of people prefer goat meat to cow meat because of the tenderness of the meat and thus i get more customers.
I choose this business because it was the only opportunity that i could have utilized to the maximum after completing fourth form, I did not have any other option to meeting all the challenges that i had other than engaging in trading in goats.
I spent 10 Us dollars to buy a young goat and rear the goat to maturity i can use another 20 Us dollars, after it has matured fully the goat can go for 60 Us dollars thus making a profit of 30 Us dollars per goat.
i use the profits generated to educate my siblings, support my mother back at home and also expand my business by buying young goats and rear them.
Given 50 Us dollars i will use the money to buy 5 young goats each at a coost of 10 Us dollars, rear them and take them to the market when fully grown, One will go for 60 Us dollars.
I will generate more income and thus be in a better position to support my family others will also benefit by getting goat meat readily.
I expect to make a profit of 50 Us dollars per sale of one goat because since i acquire them cheaply an rear them i can make more profits
