About Me

I am Amos Odedoh, I was born in 1973 in Karachuonyo Sub-County, Kenya. I was the 3rd born among five siblings in my mothers house, though my father was a polygamist and had other 5 children with my step mother. I have lived in Homa Bay County since I was born. I was born in a family of 5 children. My father was a peasant farmer while my mother was a fish monger. Being the 3rd born, life was unbearable and I had to drop from school after doing my secondary education to lack of college fee.

After dropping from school, I joined my father in his farming business as we were raising money to feed our large family and take our siblings to school. Life was unbearable and I went through a very hard life.

I got married at the age of 30 and our marriage has been blessed with 3 children. The 1st born is doing his final year in Pre School in November 2016 and the last born is six months old.

I come from fishing community that lives in the shores of Lake Victoria, men are fishermen while women are mainly fish mongers.

I love watching boat racing ,swimming, and meeting new people.

My Business

I am still doing peasantry farming but I now focus on planting trees for sale especially grafted mangoes and oranges. Fruit seedlings are in high demand in Mbita as many palatial homes are coming up and they all needs fruits. Having assessed the market demands, I started the flowers and fruits plants farm two years ago using the KES 13,000 that I had saved. The business is doing very well and I need tools to enable me produce more fruit plants and meet the huge market demands. I look forward to getting help from ZIDISHA lenders to enable me expand the business rapidly as I remain faithful in repaying the loan.

Loan Proposal

My mixed, organic food farm is growing so fast, I need a loan of KES 15,038 in order to purchase fork jembe, water can, wheelbarrow and assorted seedlings for planting in the farm.

In the coming February - March rainy and planting season, the farm tools and assorted seedlings will enable me plant fruits and flowers for sale at a very good prices. I look forward to getting a loan funds from ZIDISHA to enable me meet the demands of the clients.
