About Me

I grew up in Asikasu No2 in Northern part of Ghana. I was the Firstborn daughter to John. K. Kyere. Our family had 8 children, my 2 brothers and 6 sisters. My father had three two wife’s and my mother had only me while the second wife gave birth to 5, while i was the only one born to my mother but grew up with a child who was born to another woman out of wedlock, but my mother being kind decided that she would live with the child and raise her as our sister.
I attended Asikasu No2 Local Authority Primary and Junior High school but did not continue to higher education because of financial constraints. But my father had a neighbor who uses tailoring machine so he was asked to teach me how to use a tailoring machine and i learned while he paid for the tutorial sessions. I managed to become so good at the work that the person who taught me made me an assistant and i learned a lot more. I did not manage to raise enough money to resume my studies so i eventually got married in June of the year 2006 and now have 4 children, 1 boy and 3 girls.
My business has enabled me to buy a plot of land in the area and even helped me educate my children while also engaging in selling snacks.

My Business

I have a sewing machine and make repairs on local people’s garments. I also buy materials from the nearby border town of Badukrom and make men trousers and women’s skirts and tops. Sometimes i sew table cloths which are common here and preferred by many. I sell one trouser for around 3$ while a skirt goes for 4$I usually buy a 300 meter roll of cloth at 18$. I do the work from my home so i don’t have to pay anyone rent and my income is small enough that the local council does not demand license fees from me.
I use the proceeds to develop my business and also cater for my children education

Loan Proposal

I would like to buy sewing machine which cost 200 dollars, African fabric materials for sewing women’s dresses and men’s clothes. I can buy African women’s material at 10$ per roll, I will buy 3 rolls and also buy one plain roll for men’s trouser sewing. I will also buy threads for 50US cents. By so doing I will be able to bring my community to lamplight. I will be able to repay any amount offered me through daily proceeds. Thank you for your consideration
