My name is Boakye Martin. I was born in Dormaa Ahenkro in the Brong-Ahafo region of Ghana. I attended Yesu Mo preparator.. I used to sell dog chains around town after school. Sometimes when my parents had no money for food, I had to stop schooling and to sell so that we could get something to eat. My parents used to have a cocoa farm but it was burnt by an unknown person. I then decided not to worry myself with formal education anymore so I entered into apprenticeship where I learned sewing. After I graduated from there, I was h fortunate the Member of Parliament of Dormaa Ahenkro donated sewing machines to the needy in that community and I was fortunate to to be selected. They offered me free sewing machine and some few Ghana cedis to set up my own shop. This was one of the Government's interventions to assisting the needy in a society.
I sew clothes of different styles. The customer can also choose the style he or she wants put on, especially on Christmas days and idre- fitre for Muslims they choose their own styles and they enjoy that. Sewing gives me a lot of pleasure, apart from the money I make out of it I sew people around me to explore new designs and styles. I have also added the sale of different fabrics in my shop. What it means is that my customers select their materials in my shop so that I sew for them. Those who buy from other shops too I sew for them. .
I want to buy new sewing machine $79, Brand-new materials $132, I will also buy funeral ceremony clothes, like GTP $45,
