I went to Kapsoya Primary school, later on joined Umoja High school for my secondary education. After finishing high school i did not make to join the university because of financial problems. I was raised by a single mother who relied on offering casual labour to educate and feed us. I have three siblings all in school. Because of this challenges i thus had to drop from school.
After dropping from school, i had to look for something to do to get money, support my mother who was struggling day in and day out to educate my siblings as well as provide for my self. I therefore started offering manual labour on peoples farm and get pay at the end of the day. I did this for almost four years, got money, made saving with an attempts of starting my own business in future After making enough money, i started my own business of painting. I opened a shop in town where i do painting. I paint peoples shops, houses and buildings.
I chose this business because i found a shortage of this services in town. I was trained by a profession on this kind of work and now i do it. I love it and really appreciate where it has gotten me from.
The most unique thing about our land is the fact that it produces many athletes in the entire country.
I offer painting services. I paint houses, shops, new constructed buildings, schools, offices. I engage in all kind of painting business.
These services are useful because they make peoples house look neat and attractive. On the other hand it is on demand because the number of people engaging in this kind of business in Eldoret are not so many. On the other hand, i am a professional painter having been trained by a professional and also getting certification in the same.
I chose this business because of my love for arts. I loved making things ways back when i was in high school and on the other hand i was mentored by a very close friend who encouraged me to venture into the same business.
I incur the following costs on monthly basis, paying my shops rent 30 Us dollars, buying paints for customers at 200 Us dollars and paying somebody assisting me to look after the shop when i am away 40 Us dollars.
I have used the profits that i have made to pay school fee for my siblings, helped my mother start a grocery business in town where she sells fruits and all types of grocer. I have also managed to grow my business and maintain the stock inside.
i
Being my first loan, i would like to use the loan to do an expansion of my shop. I want to move to a bigger shop where i can be keeping my tools as well as my products fo sale safe.
I will thus use the loan that is 11 us dollars in addition to my saving of 90 Us dollars and fund this movement. This money now 110 Us dollars will pay my rent now for 50 Us dollars, pay the vehicle that will help me carry my staff 40 Us dollars and use the remaining 11 Us dollars to buy paint and do the painting to the shop.
i will benefit from this because i am moving to a more central place and thus can attract a lot of customers and also my products will be safe,.
I expect an increase in my profit by 400 Us dollars a month
