MY STORY
I am Isha Iddrissu, a 22 year old young entrepreneurial lady and a High School graduate. i am the third from a family of seven including my parents who are both unemployed. Due to the situation of my parents, it has become the responsibility of each person to cater for him or herself. Another added responsibility personally for me is to to take care of my two other siblings who are also in junior high school now. With little support from close family members, it hasn't been easy taking care of myself and my other siblings.
to enable me do this, I engage in the preparation and sale of soaps in the community where I live, this skill I got from a training workshop organized for unemployed youth in the area by a community leader two years ago. In the kind of community where I come from poverty is high especially where you come from a family like mine, with all your extended family members also being peasant farmers. So this soap business has really helped me as it has enabled me take care of myself and also afford little help for my parents. I believe that with the goodwill I am currently enjoying especially among the youth, an expansion and diversification will be an added advantage. This business gives me a little income and I believe that with support from Zidisha and also through committed efforts and dedication I should be able to see it grow to the level I want it to be. I am very entrepreneurial minded and I make the most out of every opportunity that present itself and as such this next step of expansion is a great step for me.
ABOUT MY BUSINESS
I am in the preparation and sale of all kinds of soaps, notably among them is the liquid soaps for washing of clothes, dishes and as a bathing gel. This is a skill I acquired two years ago under the auspices of the National Board for Small Scale Industries, through a local community leader. Due to the very affordable prices these products of mine are sold, I enjoy a lot of good will in the district and beyond especially among various government departments in the district. I sell to schools, clinics and other individuals in almost all departments and also at the local weekly market which is every Wednesday. The introduction of the “WASH” campaign by the authorities to get everyone especially school children to wash their hands well before and after eating has also gotten me a huge customer based in the first and second cycle institutions here in the district.
On the whole, where the market is good I make about 70 cedis as net profit in sales. What I now need is a little help to diversify especially in terms of packaging and advertising. This is because, the products after preparation are put into after used drinking water containers which already has the labels of water company on them. It is my intention to be able to come out my own well designed bottles with my business name and logo on them.
I would be glad to get this loan to be able to expand and grow my business. I promise to execute and respect the rules and regulation of this noble institution.
Thank you.
I wish to apply for loan to expand my soap making business. As I indicated in the first loan, this business has been of great help to me in my education and therefore I was very glad when I was given the loan to invest into it. By the grace of God, more people have been interested in my products and as a result I have received a contract from our district hospital to supply them with soap an detergents. My funds are however not adequate and would be glad if I am supported in this regard. I need this money to buy some ingredients such as base, perfume, color etc. These ingredients would be bought at a total cost of 500 GHS. At the end I would make a profit of about 400 GHS. I promise to abide by all rules and regulation governing this noble firm as I did in the previous loan. Thank you.
