About Me

I am Stephen Samwel Okode, I was born in a rural village of Gera in Kasgunga Ward, Homabay County, Kenya. I was the 6th born in a family of 11 children. My parents were peasant farmers with very low income. My parents struggled with me in order to complete my secondary education in the year 2013 at Gingo Mixed Day Secondary School in Suba District, Kenya.

Upon completion of high school, I started working in a local school as an English and Maths Teacher, teaching class 4 and 5 . It is in this teaching career that I managed to save KES 15,700 which I used to join a local Teachers College on a holiday sandwich programme at the Mbita Point Teachers Training College to pursue a Diploma course in Early Childhood Education (ECD).

In my free time, I do participate in community development activities at my village.

My Business

I am currently employed as a teacher earning a total of KES 6,700 per month. I am using this money to feed myself and pay the college fee. I am passionate about helping the little children and I love teaching. It's a noble profession. I look forward to completing my coursework and contributing to societal development through my teaching profession.

Loan Proposal

I am requesting for a loan of KES 19,933 to enable me pay my early childhood education teachers training college fee, coursebooks and workbooks. I will repay the loan with income from teaching job. My monthly income of KES 6,700 will enable me meet my food, medical, school and households needs comfortably. Upon completion of my teacher education course, I will be employed with the Government of Kenya or start my own nursery/pre-school and this will enable me to increase my income and support my family in future. In my monthly income, I will be able to use 40% of the income to meet my food needs, 40% to repay the loan on a daily basis and save 20%. I want to appeal to my lenders to consider partnering with me to support my education.
