About Me

My name is Elizabeth Akinyi, 36 years old from Mbita, Kenya. I reside in Nyamanga Village of Mbita Sub County. I am married with 5 children, first born is in class 6 and last born is now 3 years old. I got my primary education in the same place and later joined a neighbouring high school. After completing high school I never proceeded to university due to lack of school fees, I depended on my parents who were doing causal work in my village.

Because of the poor background I was brought up in, I became provoked and decided not to remain poor as people would view my family. Ever since I have worked diligently and remained focused in my business. To raise capital to start my business I was forced to wash clothes for neighbours and tilling their lands. I started by hawking fresh on farm fruits but today, I have transformed it to a food kiosk now selling all types of fruits in wholesale and retail price. I use part of profit to educate my children, my firstborn girl who want to become a neurosurgeon when she grow up. I like singing and spends my part time practicing songs in the church since I am in choir.

My Business

My business entails selling of all types of fresh fruits i.e mangoes, paw paw, oranges, avocados, lemons and etc. I also sell groceries among others. I choose this business since Kenyan people are hospitable and like spending much money in fruits. This business will always be on demand because people cannot live without food which is a basic need. I buy my stock from farmers and suppliers who give me at very minimal cost because of purchasing in bulk. This has enabled me sell to my customers at a very affordable price and hence conquering my competitors who sell them very expensive. The quality of my clothes, competitive price and good customer care has made customers to flock in my business daily and has contributed much in rising of my profit margin everyday. I reinvest my profit to business, part paying school fees and meeting house hold needs while the rest is saved for future projects.

Loan Proposal

I need a loan of KES 9,130 to buy fresh fruits (mangoes, avocadoes, oranges, pineapple and pawpaw) for sale in my food kiosk in Mbita Open Air Market. This loan capital if injected into my business, the profit ration will grow by 30% and the business will expand so fast to reach break even point.
