About Me

I am a 27 year old male Kenyan citizen.I come from a family of two sisters and one brother. I am the third born in the family. I am a student at Nairobi Institute of Business Studies currently pursuing a certificate in business Administration.
I live in Roysambu constituency of Nairobi County. Roysambu is to the north of the Nairobi central business district on the Thika highway. My locality is called Pau location. My house number is NCC125 and my plot number is R40. The direction to my home from the Central Business District are as follows: Board a public service vehicle at Odeon Stage number 44. Alight at Roysambu stage and head towards Pan African University. My home is next to the University i.e. 500metres from the stage.
I am by Kenyan definition what they call a hustler(a person engaging in a venture that satisfies his needs). I run a movie, songs, and videos selling business venture in my area. I obtain movies from various sources, duplicate them and sell them. I run my business from a rented establishment-a one roomed premises.

My Business

I started my business in 2013 getting capital from my savings. I bought a disc duplicating machine in three instalments from a second-hand vendor. I also paid rent which is Kshs 4000 ($50) per month. My monthly income amounts to Kshs 10000 per month enabling me to pay rent, restore inventory and take care of my personal effects.
My customers mainly consist of the young people in the area with occasional elder people also purchasing. The youth normally purchase movies and series which they love very much. Elder people normally come to buy country songs and gospel hits.
The main challenge my business venture is experiencing right now in the poor state of the disc duplicating machine. The machine being old is not stable and has to undergo a lot of repairs regularly. This causes the closure of my business and in the long run losses. I sometimes have to borrow to be able to pay rent.

Loan Proposal

Given the loan I will endeavor to better my business in several ways. I will purchase a new disc duplicating machine to be burning my movies, songs and videos. The cost of a new machine is about $110. This will enable me to burn movies at all times and avoid closing due to machine breakdowns. In the long run this will satisfy my customers’ needs hence the business will prosper and grow.
I will then be able to supply my goods and services at the best utility. This will mean that I can even supply some young startups which are emerging in the area. That will be a great forward step in my business.
I will also acquire blank Compact Discs (CDs) and Digital Video Discs (DVDs) in wholesale so as TO ENJOY TRADE AND CASH DISCOUNTS. The suppliers are located in Nairobi Central Business District. This enables me to operate continuously without the need to travel so as to buy inventory.
