About Me

My name is Jacinta Sammy. I was born in Machakos County in Eastern side of Kenya. After my secondary school education, I joined a college in Nairobi where I was trained as a secretary. However, due to lack of employment I settled for another job where I was employed in shop dealing with chemicals which are used to make detergents and shampoos.
I support my aging parents back home with the money I get from my business. I am a very active member of our church where I participate in the church choir as the lead soloist. I am also a very hardworking lady and I believe in growing day after day. I hope with the help of Zidisha, I will be able to reach great heights of development.

My Business

My business deals with making of detergents and shampoos. I then sell the finished products in my outlet. Due to the small quantities involved, most of the work is done manually. I buy the raw materials like hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide and industrial salt, mix them in the right quantities using buckets and then package the product in small containers.
The products are quite popular with low budget citizens who are very many in my area of operation. The quality is also good enough to be used in hospitals, schools and I am hoping that I will be able to penetrate this market if given credit to enable me buy the raw materials in big quantities.
I am currently working with little raw materials which is just enough to serve domestic users. For me to go to bigger clients, I need to buy the raw materials in bulk. This will also increase my sales hence more profit.

Loan Proposal

I deal with making of bathing soap, detergents and shampoos. This is a promising business since the price of my products is much lower that those made by multinational companies. My market segment is mostly the low income earners.

If given these loan I will use it to buy raw materials for making soap and packaging materials. I will also use about $30 to paint and brand my shop. If successful, I will use this money to get into large institutions such as schools and hospitals where they need to be supplied with large quantities of soap and detergents.

Please fund this loan so that I move a step closer to realizing my dream.
