My name is Slyvia Atieno, I was born in Bunyala in the shores of lack victoria,my parents died when I was only five years old, leaving me with my aunts who took me to school. I went to Nabula primary school, and joined samia girls for my o-level.
my aunt who was taking care of me passed on while I was in my final year in secondary school, she passed on while I was just about to sit my final exams ,these had great impact in my performance and so I missed government sponsorship to join college. After secondary education I did not have any source of income yet I had bills to clear, I was forced to work in peoples farms to get $1 a day just for food and other basic needs. My former secondary school teacher, gave me $40 ,that I used to prepare my farm to grow traditional African vegetables,I source my water from a nearby stream and irrigate my farm. The returns are good.
My community is mainly made of fishermen ,the unique culture is fishing.
my hobbies include, reading, farming, making new friends, and boat riding.
I grow and sell vegetables which are very demandable. most people here are fisher men and so the vegetable supply is very low, only few people do vegetable farming and that is why the demand is very high.
I choose this business because , I had experience in crop farming and I knew the products will move.
I spend $100 on labor seeds and manure. My revenues are $250.
I use my revenues to pay rent for my house, take care of my basic needs and pay for my fees in Bumbe technical college where I do Diploma in farm management.
How are you today lenders?? I am hopeful you are doing fine and all is well. I am doing well here. I have expanded my farm to two acres ,thanks to improved revenues and profits due to previous loans. I am currently facing one problem and that is the irrigation pump is not able to supply water to the whole farm. I decided to buy a water tank that would be used to store water in the farm. I wish to ask for a third loan to buy a 40cc irrigation generator that I will use for pumping water into the reserve tanks. These will enable me to irrigate the farm with easy. Thank you.
