About Me

my name is Georgina Osei , a Ghanaian and i am a trader cum business woman. i am the first of five children born to my parents . my father died in my senior high school days and my mom had to take care of the five of us alone. As a results of financial difficulties, i could not proceed to college although i had very good grades. i rather went to stay with an auntie who taught me how to prepare local Tom Brown using dry maize and dry coconut. so i became perfect in no time since i actually studied home economics too in school.i took to selling this product at a very early age to which i used the profit to take care of my self and helped my mom to raise my other siblings. so this is how come i came to start this business of selling and distributing locally prepare tom brown in large quantities in schools and nearby clinics and hospitals. initially when i started , i was trading on credit.i took to sell form my auntie and paid later but as time went by, i was able to save to purchase the raw materials and prepare them myself which makes me more profit. i am a very dedicated christian who believe in working hard. i spend my free time which is not often because i am always working, to rest and think through my business and how to improve it. my dream as of the moment is to be able to trade in these tom brown on a bigger platform since it is very lucrative. Integrity have been my life's compass and due to that i have never lost my way...

My Business

MAPYS SPECIAL TOM BROWN................ As i wrote earlier, i am into the preparation, selling and the distribution of locally prepared tom brown to schools and local hospitals and clinics and also to nursing mothers at a very moderate prices.
for the tom brown, there are foreign ones but many people due to financial constraints can not afford those ones and for that matter refer to the locally made ones. it is really in huge demand in our hospitals and clinics all over Ghana. i choose this business because i was thought free by an auntie and also because it satisfy a basic need which is the need for food and the fact that it is needed in the hospital makes me feel socially important.
cost wise, the ingredients used to prepare them are not much many and much expensive i buy a bag of maize for $85 and some coconut for about $10 and usually the mailling and the transport cost from my home and latter the containers needed to package them. at the end of the day, i make up to 50% and some times more of the amount of moneys that i invest so it is really lucrative and it is in demand daily too so everyday i make money. i save part of what i make, i give part to my mom for their up keep and i live on part and reinvest the rest in to my business

Loan Proposal

When my loan application is fully funded, i will use the entire amount to go for inventory.
Below is the cost break down as how i will use the money:
(1) Dried Maize (half bag)...............................$50
(2) Dried coconut (350) pieces.....................$20
(3) Packaging materials 5 dozens of rubber.....$15
(4) Mailing cost at the mailing center.................$15
All put together will make exactly $100 . to me as a person, it will help me to increase my scale of production and by so doing , i will be making more profit. and to my community, those in the hospitals especially the children department will enjoy delicious tom brown since i really take time to manufacture it.
With this new capital injection and investment into my business, i expect my profit margin to increase as to close to half on invested capital at the end of trading with the entire $100 which will last for about a month and a half.
Thank you..........
