About Me

Am Duncan Wanyiri Wangui a Kenyan youth aged 23 years old. I was born in Nyahururu town laikipia county.Am a first born in our family of four. Am married with one kid aged 1year. Our mother passed on 7years ago. Me and my younger siblings were left under care of our ageing grandpa. .I schooled in the local public primary school Maina Primary, where I scored 300/500 marks. I was later admitted in the village secondary school Munyaka Day. I was educated by wellwishers till the forth form where I managed to score a C+ on my Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examinations in the year 2013. I lacked resources to pursue more education hence I started the normal hustle in the hood like weeding farms, digging trenches and more to help my younger siblings secure their day to day bread. Due to technological discoveries famers in my hood started using artificial methods of farming hence casual labour decreased. I ventured in to the urban areas to try get luck, where I was employed as a Maadazi vendor. My local church saw my struggle and intervened and helped me start a small business.

My Business

I ventured into Maadazi and Cakes making business through the help of our local church P. C. E. A Emmanuel parish. The church took me to a three months seminar, which was funded by The Outreach Foundation at Maashuru needeni area, where I gained basic training on Basic Evangelism and cakes /pastry making. I used that knowledge and secured employment in baking firm where I gained more experience in the field. I used the money I got to pay for my sister's school fees as well as feed the family. Following the plastic paper ban in our country the firm I was working in collapsed last year.I Used the little savings I had and built a small kiosk on the roadside where am currently doing some maandazi cooking and baking of cakes. I hawks cakes and Maadazi using a box from one center to another treaking very early in the morning for consumers breakfast. It's tiresome but I does it to cater for my family needs as well as support my extended family back in the village.
