I am the third born in a family of seven .My home county is Siaya although i was born and brought up in Nairobi where i have stayed in for the better part of my life.I was born in a lower class family where i went through hardship in my life.I education was partially sponsored with a well wisher who passed away when i was half way but God was with me and i completed my O level. I have worked with various companies and Saccos for the past 30 years rising to the post of a manager.I have vast experience in fleet management and Sacco management and i am currently working for a Sacco and run a public transport business.
I am a Luo by tribe and my community are well known for their like for fish and ugali which is their staple food.Luos are known to be fishermen and they stay along the shores of lake victoria. Our culture is rich among us but unpopular among other tribes mostly the Bantus. We are the lake Nilotes. The famous scholars from Kenya among then the late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga ,Tom Mboya,Argwings Kodheck and the late Barack Obama the father of the present President of the United States and the former Prime Minister of Kenya Raila Amolo Odinga were from the community.

My hobbies are dancing, watching tv ,watching football ,helping the needy especially widows and orphans in my community,I am the founder of Bainsbridge community development organization located in Ngiya village Siaya County.

My Business

I am currently in part time public transport business but is putting up to venture into a cyber cafe business which i am sure will generate some reasonable income to me and my family.I have already bought two computers and a printer and i am now seeking capital for rent ,internet line and license. My business station is in Nairobi kikomba area just 100 meters from my work place. The business is a service delivery business and the demand for the services is high.
For the sake of clarity I'll focus on a small budget and will employ two people to help me do the business. From my research the average daily projected income will be $60 with daily expenses of $ 20. The target is achievable although it will be difficult to meet the target within the first six months of operation. The business will run for 6 days a week and i assume that i will make a saving of $ 40 daily which is equivalent to $ 1,040 per month (26 days). The starting Capital for the business is approximately $ 1800.
With a projected profit after tax and expenses of $ 340 per month, i will be able to pay back the tax and the loan comfortably in twelve months.

Services
Internet
Typing
Printing Services
Photo Copying.
I will use my profit to support the orphans widows and the elderly in my village.I will also support some parents from poor families by paying partial fees to their bright children and support our local church. I wish to expand the business as well in future.

I had the opportunity to meet with Corsmas yesterday at his office near downtown Nairobi. There he spends his 9-5 or really 8-6 day job working as a manager for a transportation company. However in his off time he works on his own businesses, one where he sells bricks and the other he is the owner of his own bus service. He is very thankful for Zidisha lenders, since with the loans over the past year he has been able to repair his bus or "matatu" as it is called here. However after some time even the repairs were not enough to keep the old bus going, so he has sold it. Now he plans on buying a new bus hopefully with the help of Zidisha lenders. We went to the car yard where he showed me the bus he would like to purchase, and below are some photos.

Corsmas is one of the few borrowers I have met that was actually born and raised in Nairobi, though he still has strong ties to his parents' hometown in Kisumu County, around six hours from Nairobi. He is proud of his roots, which are of the Luo tribe, known to be great fishermen living on Lake Victoria. This is also the tribe of Barack Obama's father and Corsmas boasted that from his father's house he can walk down the road to get to Obama's grandmother's house where she still lives. This is also where his brick business operates from with the help of his partner and brother. They make the bricks manually with a recipe of soil, water and sun to dry them. Corsmas even lived in his village for a while twenty years ago, running in orphanage from his home.

Now he is looking forward to retiring from his career and pursuing his businesses with the help of Zidisha. The profits of his businesses will help him have a secure retirement and help out his youngest daughter with her education. He has four children total, two of which are working in Qatar. With his guidance all of his children are doing very well and so are the Zidisha members he mentors. In his free time Corsmas likes to watch football especially his team, Manchester United, and dance. He invited me to listen to some live music downtown at the Princess Hotel. Of course I accepted!

    Dear Lenders and zidisha team,
I take this opportunity to thank you for coming to my assistance when I was in dire financial need.It is beautiful as your loan helped me meet the coast of repair for my stalled vehicle and I was able to put it back on road .Your contribution have totally changed my life and my thinking as I have become more ambitious and business minded as I have realized that for one to be successful you have to have someone to hold your hand as Zidisha does. I am now thinking of becoming a full time businessman and I am sure I will do it with your help.Zidisha have brought happiness in my family and I thank you all and encourage you to continue helping the deserving.
