About Me

Hello there. My name is Mathews Kayuni from Zambia the 5th born in a family of 7. I was born in a rural area of Chongwe District where the Soli people hail from. I was born on the day that my grandfather died, same time and location. I am told I was born at 18 hours on a Sunday 1994 and this is the exact time my grandfather also died.
Long when I was still in my mother's womb, my grandfather had a problem with the stomach swelling. He could tell his wife and people that the day that his stomach would stop swelling, that would be the time he would be fine. And just on that day when I was born, his stomach returned to normal and died. Because of this, they called me 'Misozi' meaning tears but later came to change it.

Well, growing up in a rural area is hectic. No electricity, better schools and Health posts. Yes, I started my grade one when I was 10. Shortly, in 2003, dad left us for good to the grave. His demise was a catastrophic blow to our family. Later in 2004, mum moved to the capital city Lusaka in search of a new life together with me and my other two sisters.

That very, I was enrolled at Omega Community school and through God's grace, I finished my secondary school in 2014. Two years later, I was enrolled at Lusaka Business Technical college to study building and construction works.

Wanna know me more? Read on.
I am gifted with writing skills. I have written several articles for the Hope Magazine, a publication for the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Zambia [Midlands Zambia Conference]. By the way, I am a full SDA Christian being an invested master guide in the Youth Ministries.
I am also writing my new book, The war within Africa. I have also published a number of books at Amazon Kindle publishing.

I also love music. I am a music choir Director at my church and currently working on my debut single album to be launched next year April.

My passion for business is inspired by Mum. Since Dad died, she has survived us from selling fruits in town. It's not far from easy. But today, we have all grown and almost everyone is independent. By the way, I just married and we are blessed with a baby boy.

My first instincts for business started in 2014. Then I had a grocery shop. But later I abandoned it due to many losses I was making every day. But that did not waver my spirit to be an entrepreneur. I am making progress and the latest is an opening of a small micro shop that will provide mobile transactions, printing, branding, photocopying among other things.

I dream big. And one day am seeing my self-owning a secondary back in Chongwe. I have achieved this goal of opening this shop by having a focus specifically at one thing at a goal. Although at night I spend much time freelancing, much of my focus now is on this shop.

My little boy Daniel is still young to tell me what he wants to be when he grows UP. But I want to be great, far better than what I will become.

There is much to tell. But we can end here for now.

My Business

I have three businesses in focus. But I am working on them one by one. The first is a small shop that houses some mobile money services, printing, typing, photocopying among others.
I decided t choose this type of business because it gives me the freedom to work at own time and I decide how far I can go. My business is still in its infancy stage and I am making about $50 dollars a month. Not bad. But I am growing and I am growing.

For now, the little I make is used to pay off some rents and order for some new tools I use. That is, acquiring new hardware for computers and I am in the process of budgeting for a big photocopier machine.

Loan Proposal

My first loan I contracted of $5 was meant for freelancing work, where the money was used to buy airtime and service bundles for internet connections. I am pleased to say that I am progressing well. Thanks to my lender and that I was able to repay on time.

This time around, I want to put up a mobile money transaction and a stationary shop where I will be doing all my work from there. I will be working with my wife in this business.
The $20 I am going to borrow will be used to pay rentals for the first month so that I can successfully start my operations.
Once I successfully put up this business, the profit per week is expected to be at $50 dollars, looking at the demand of my services after doing a market research. This means a good starting income that I will be able to help and raise my family. I have one child, a boy by the name of Daniel. He is only a month, and there is a lot he is expecting. I just have to work hard for him and his mother.
This is the beginning of my story.
Thank you my lender in advance.
God bless.

Hello, I am a driven, passion oriented entrepreneur from Zambia. I am a freelancer and author and my profession being a builder.
Life in Zambia is economically hard as there are no jobs for a lot of youths. I have three big achievements I dream big in life to help my fellow youths with jobs or something to do. I know, for now, many say it is impossible. But with a platform such as Zidisha, the sky is the limit and I know one time I will stand to testify.
The first project am currently working on is the establishment of a small micro one shop that will provide P2P mobile money transaction, photocopying, branding, and printing. I was just approved with $5 as my first loan with Zidisha. That amount may seem insignificant, but it will go a long way for freelancing work.
I am also partnering with my brother for a poultry project which is also on its toes right now.
However, my biggest dream is an establishment of a secondary school in Chongwe District of Lusaka that will provide quality education, employment and empower the community.

I have decided to share with the community here so that it may be a witness that indeed small dreams that begin small ends big.

Thanks to the Zidisha family for this kind of platform. It's the first of its kind in Africa. To all the lenders out there, thank you for helping many African vibrant entrepreneurs realize and achieve their goals. Kudos.

I would recommend this platform to anyone out there with a bright vision to achieve something in life.
