About Me

My name is Hillary Tenai born in 1984. I come from Cheptiret location Cheptiret sub-location in Uasin Gishu County.
I am the first born child out of 8 children; my parents are not well off. I went to school through many challenges. I also support my young brothers and sisters who are still in school by paying their school fees. I hold a diploma holder in Information Technology (IT). I have a young family of two sons aged 9 & 5 years old. I started my hawking business in Nairobi city while I was in college to earn a living.
I was later employed by an insurance firm to market its insurance policies when I finished my course. There was no salary then since my earnings were only the commission based on the number of policies sold. I decided to quit and relocated to Kitale town after going through the challenges of being a sales agent.

My Business

After working for 6 months in employment I decided to start my business where I saw the need to buy cereals such as maize and beans and selling to schools and institutions in small quantities. I have since diversified to hiring of farms and planting maize so as to enable me supply enough stocks to schools and maximize on returns. The business is now two years old and growing. I have done maize farming for one year.
This business operates in Kitale Town Endebes Road in Matisi Centre where buying of cereals is the centre of interest.
Am currently getting orders to supply maize to many local schools in my region and this has given me an opportunity to grow.

Loan Proposal

Thank you Zidisha community for giving me the opportunity first, to become a member and then to for this chance to apply for a loan from Zidisha.
The money I intend to borrow from Zidisha will to help me buy Maize Seeds that I will plant on a 4 acre land that I have already ploughed.
I need Kes 18,000 to buy seeds since I have already purchased the fertilizer and I have spent my savings to pay school fees for my dependants.
I am due to supply some orders from last year’s harvest but am waiting for the anticipated price increase probably from mid March 2015.
Your Funding will help me to have enough cash to buy seeds.
Thank you.
