About Me

I grew up in Seka Village where I got my primary education before joining a secondary school in Migori County. As the case to most people I have also had challenges in life but I was able to overcome them because I was focused irrespective of the distractions here and there.I thought about this business when I went to buy books for my daughter who was joining a new class,I got interested and started with books worth $ 600,I had a new idea that I thought of adding to the business and it worked (exchanging used books at a small fee and also buying used books from parents at reduced cost to sell to their parents with children in those classes)

My Business

I sell textbooks, exercise books, stories and other class stationery to school and parents with school going children . I work closely with schools and parents since they form the base of my market. The books are in high demand in December ,January , February,May and August this is the time when parents are looking for books for the children joining new classes and schools,in January and February those transiting from Primary to Secondary schools do a lot of buying.I chose book selling because children are born daily and they have to get education through the books I sell.
Averagely a text book go for $ 4 from wholesalers and can be sold @ $ 7.This means a loan of $ 200 can purchase 50 books which can bring a profit $ 120.The profits will be used to enlarged the business.

Loan Proposal

I will use the loan to buy to boy 14 set of textbooks with each set having 6 textbooks namely Mathematics,Science,Kiswahili,Religious Education,Social Studies and English. The books will be for children in primary schools in class one to eight. Most of the parents like start buying books early before the year turns. Each book goas for approximately Kshs.430 inclusive of VAT and is sold @ Kshs 500- 530 per book making a profit of averagely Kshs 85 per book. The 84 books to be bought can be sold in two week or less when the demand is high and others brought to replace them.It is ancipated that the loan will increase my profit by 15% and help keep my girl in school as well as support my expenses including more books.
