About Me

My name is Diana Adhiambo, the first born in my family, I currently live in Maseno about one hundred metres from the main gate at Maseno University, next to Shaba Lodge Restaurant. I am a graduate of B.A Social Sciences currently doing my Masters research in Social Development and Management. I started my business mainly so as to supplement the income I get from part time lecturing, and so as to earn money to save for future bigger investments. The challenge I have had in business however is difficulty in expansion as I have majorly been selling my products through moving around with them and it becomes difficult having to carry them around with me always, so I am opening up a shop which means I have to get even more stock but I have limited capital to do so.
In my free time I do alot, I enjoy reading, watching movies, listening to inspirational music.

My Business

My business started from a personal need, I realized it was difficult to actually walk into a shop to buy under garments as a woman, so I went to a store and not only bought mine but a few more which I started selling to friends mostly from my handbag.
The response was quite good as most ladies realized they did not have panties and bras but did not purchase these on a regular basis because they often overlooked it even in their monthly shopping for necessities. I soon included jewellery in my stock but on small scale which complemented my sales further. It was easy doing this ind of business but it soon became apparent I needed to expand, get more stock and variety which was a bit difficult due to limited funds as I do not have a regularly paying job to boost my capital.
The business is profitable because clients pay promptly as I do not over price the products but make sure the prices allow me to get good profits, however the main challenge I face currently is limited variety and little stock to meet the demand. I have no major challenges in terms of competition since there is no one currently specializing in under garments for ladies only. I mean no one.
The profits accrued on a monthly basis as well as income from my part time job will enable me to repay the loan in good time so as to get more and keep my business growing.

Loan Proposal

This loan will enable me to get more bras, panties, cosmetics and jewellery so as to boost stock in the shop I just opened. My estimates are a dozen of bras at 33 US Dollars, a dozen ladies panties at 16 Dollars, different types of cosmetics including lip balms, nail varnish, all estimated at 45 Dollars, and finally different types of jewellery all estimated at 50 Dollars.
This loan will help me get more earnings from my business because I now have a central place where clients can come to choose and see the variety of items I have as opposed to carrying them around since it limits how much I can move with due to the bulk.
I have tried to raise the excess capital required to expand the variety of what I sell on my own but it is difficult since there are other costs involved which I may not meet with my current earnings, such as transport.
I therefore need support in doing this so as to enable me expand and meet demands from even more clients who I cannot reach now because of limited stock.

Greetings lenders, I kindly apply for a repayment schedule to a lower amount which I know I will manage more easily without defaulting whatsoever. This is because I earn less profits from the business because of a limited variety of items. I however intend to increase variety of products at the shop and plans are underway for that.
I hope my application gets considered as I prepare to start with the new schedule and clear my loan balance as soon as possible.
    Thank you.

    Dear lenders,
This is yet another update as I apologise for not meeting my repyment schedules for the past two Mondays now. I am still facing challenges raising money from the business, so I am waiting for payment from my teaching job so I can use in clearing up my loan balance.
This should take upto a maximum of two weeks and when it happens I will clear all the remaining balance.
Thank you for the patience this far I am deeply grateful.

I am sending a request to reschedule my loan from the current dates as I have just re- opened back the business, to two weeks from today so as to allow me to collect the money from the sales for repayment. Kindly accept and offer me a new repayment schedule.
I have not been able to meet the repayment schedule as required because of challenges in the running of the business since I had been operating on little capital and other sources of funding did not work out to boost my capital, so I have been operating only on the funding received from zidisha and it has not been easy, I had to close shop for sometime in the course of the lending period but now I am putting it up and running again. I should be stable in two weeks.
    Thank you.

    Greetings Zidisha family.
Allow me to apologise for having been offline a long time now.
Second I need to post an update on my loan repayment which I have not quite been able to submit lately due to challenges here and there.
Business is a bit slow currently since most of my customers are university students and campus has been closed for a month now but am working on an alternate source for repayment, so I should be able to clear my loan within the month.
Kindly bear with me as I re strategize on how to do business with ease, while earning good profits and making my loan repayments in good time as well.
Thank you again for the support and understanding so far.

Hello business people this is an apology for having been off a while now. I have been sorting a few challenges at the business place which have made me default in payment but I am doing a few changes.
I have been making a few changes at the shop and will post the pictures soon. The undergarments and jewellery business picked up a bit slow as compared to the results I had projected therefore I have been using the proceeds to include a snacks section at the shop which is doing well looking at the progress of a few weeks.
I will settle my late repayments together in the next repayment date that is in a few days. Kindly bear with me. Thank you.

I would like to reschedule my loan repayments to a figure that is just a little bit lower and more comfortable to pay without any delays. this is because currently the profits I am realizing from my business are still low since I just started and therefore I am more comfortable paying Kshs 1,000.
I am also yet to be paid from my part time work hence getting access to any amount higher than that is still a challenge at the moment.
