My name is Stephen Kimani and I reside at Bahati location, Bahati constituency of Nakuru County.
I am born again Christian who is God fearing. I am married with one wife and one child, who rely on me wholly. I live with them just behind the business house I am a form four leaver but have attended a trade test in motor vehicle mechanic and now that is what I does as I am a motorbike mechanic in the business. The money I get from the business is used to feed the family, pay rent and electricity bills.
Radars Motorbike repair is the name of My business and deals with repairing of motorbike. I started doing the business three years ago after the emerging of the boda boda business which started to boom in the area. I saw that there was need to start and exercise my course. First I started as a bodaboda and saved enough money/ capital to start my business. The reasons why I started the business was that I saw there was a lot of trouble to the boda boda people who had to go very far to get the services and by opening the business there was a relieve to them because even when the motorbike broke down, the mechanic was just near and available. Many people prefer my business because of the way i treat them and moreover there know me very well. Due to the fact that I have no enough capital to buy the spares, i normally prefer to tell the customers to buy the spare part and them I charge them the labor charges hence they feel satisfied. The business total daily average Kshs. 400 which translate to Kshs. 12,000 per month. In a month i have an expenditure of Kshs. 3000 for house rent, and Kshs. 500 electricity bill. This gives a total profit of about Kshs.6000 when i subtract the household expenditure.
I am Stephen Kimani,28 years old, married with one child.i live in Bahati and have a motorbike garage in Bahati centre just a few metres from the bus stage. Bahati centre is a business centre with more farmers in the outskirts whose market is Bahati centre, Nakuru and other exports flowers to other parts of the world, the largest city in East and central Africa. Due to this farmers who are outside the centre, there comes a need for motorbike commonly known as Boda boda for transportation of both the farm produce and the farmers from their shambas to the bus stage or to the centre to do their shoping since their is no matatus to the farms. . I have not gone so far with my education because of alot of financial issues in my family,so I decided to venture into the business to be able to supplement my family income.since I am a mechanic, I started a motorbike mechanic garage, but I have a challenge of buying spare parts, since it thy are of different types and the number of motorbikes brought for repair are more than i can afford the spares which cause me to send the owner for repair to Nakuru town which is 20 kilometres from Bahati. This calls for me to try and get other source of funding to be able to bring the spares closely which will increase my sales and services. The previous loan helped me to stock the shop with few types of spare parts.I trust that with the loan from Zidisha,I will be able to buy extra spare parts and also be able to the motor bikes and satisfy my customers.thank you.
