    Hey Marion!

What the hell? Where are you? You owe money lady - pay it! I'm not lending one more dollar until this scammer AND the person who vouched for them are dealt with by Zidisha!

It only takes one bad experience to turn people off this site and all the good they can do in the world.

Hi salam it's too bad out of ten good borrowers one is bad. This person looks like a scammer but it's good some of us "VMs" are working hard to follow up and bring people back to payment

Unfortunately I've not heard anything from anyone. The FAQ states that efforts are made but no one has passed on any information about these "efforts" to me. I've given loans to two people so far on this site. One was repaid in full and on time and I have lent to that person again. I'd like to be able to lend more (but my money is tied up with this lady) but not if scammers use this site and nothing is done about it. If things are being done about it, please keep lenders up to date so we at least know about some progress.

Well, with two repayments missed I guess this one was a scammer. One positive experience, one bad with Zidisha. I won't be lending again.

Salam, maybe it's too early to say it's dead, but you may be right. Yesterday I wrote 20+ last ditch emails to borrowers who seem to have disappeared without making a single payment or explanation. The overall Zidisha non-performing loan rate appears to be about 25%.

I've not seen any of this "follow up" they claim in the FAQ.

I mean, if they were having problems - just let us know. I'm sure people would be very understanding. I don't do this for profit. I charge 0% interest because I wanted to help people and now because of one selfish scammer - dozens of others won't have my help in the future.

Hi again Salam, I understand completely. Follow-up is done by wonderful volunteers, and yes, it's not enough to follow up on the thieves and those with problems. To the best of my knowledge losses due to non-payment run about 20-25%, which makes it 75% lending and 25% charity. If you stay on with Zidisha join the Member Forum (link at top) and create an account to continue such discussions as this. Happy Holiday wishes to you in beautiful Perth.

Good luck with your business Marion. Thank you for allowing me to help improve your life. I wish I could try one of your chapatis myself.

Work hard and be successful :)
