About Me

My name is Tabitha Njeri Muraya, a Kenyan citizen identification number 22569732. I was born on 10th February 1981 at Kimangu village Rongai Township in Nakuru County I went to Tuiyotich primary school and later Lake Nakuru Secondary school, in Nakuru town. I later joined Tracom College in Nakuru town.
Later in life, I moved to Nakuru town where I got married and settled. I am currently blessed with two children. My husband works as a registered nurse.
We, I and my husband, have since opened a chemist shop; Candid Chemist at Rongai township and I am in charge of it. The Chemist is situated near Kandutura-Kimangu boda boda at Kandutura house. This is a very strategic point since most of the workers from the nearby flower farms board vehicle and motorcycles from here. Other than my husband’s salary, the Chemist provides us with the means to our children’s education needs and domestic needs.

My Business

The Chemist, Candid Chemist is situated next to Kandutura-Kimangu boda boda stage. This position is very strategic as it the point where most of the people who work at the flower farms nearby board the vehicle and motorbikes. The sales range from Ksh 8,000 on a good day to Ksh 6,000. The profit is usually 30% of the sales. This translates to Ksh 2,400 to 1,800 daily. The average monthly income is Ksh 63,000. The expenses are mainly purchase of stock and rent for the premises. We also employ one worker at a cost Ksh 5,000 per month. On average, we are able to make Ksh 40,000 per month.
Our Chemist is known for its wide variety of drugs, superior knowledge high quality drugs and fair pricing. This is very attractive to customers. The main challenge is expiry of drugs, breakages and bad debts. We are able to overcome this by prudent management of drug supply and putting a ceiling on the debts given, usually 2% of the sales.

Loan Proposal

My chemist happens to be very close to where people board vehicles to Kandutura, Kimangu, Thirandu and several other areas of Rongai division. I intend to use this proximity to increase sales by adding a variety of drugs in my chemist. This will have to be done by combining my personal savings and the amount that I get from Zidisha. I am optimistic that with the right kind of drugs and enough stock I can be able to increase my sales by 200%. This extra income will enable me to pay off my loan and put up other investments.
