About Me

I am john Gatenjwa Ngigi. I stay in Limuru in a place called Ngarariga. I complete secondary school in 2011 October and I have been doing tea packing work until today. I am born in a family that has 4 children. My mother and father have a tea packing business where I have been doing the job over the last two years. I am the second after my eldest brother called Martin Karanja Ngigi. Martin Karanja has his own tea packing business that he operates using the license of my father. He has got a loan recently from Zidisha microfinance organization and he has used t to support his business. I have always wanted to separate from my parents and do my own business like him. Being an employer or working on my own is much better and I can earn much more than the salary that I am paid by parents. I have savings of Kshs 22,200 in Equity bank and I have seen that Zidisha can help me to start my own business. The business requires atleast Kshs 28,000 to start without counting the license and other charges by the government. I will rely on the documents of my father, which is allowed, such as registration, Kenya bereau of standards and other charges. My business has low risk and it is very profitable. My father has already good market which he does not satisfy and where I will be selling my packed tea.

My Business

The tea that we pack with my parents and brother is called Daimaha tea and is of very good quality. The good quality ensures that demand for it is always there throughout the year. I will also look for additional market where I can sell the tea. Every time an order is sent to the customer, they pay in full within one week and latest within 20 days. The profit that is guaranteed from the sales will help me to pay the loan that I will be given at Zidisha. I am going to take my own room in the same building which is also owned by a family member and where I will be working on myself. After I get through, I am going seek support by employing a tea-packer. My expenses will be rent, electricity, 5 bags of 90 kilograms each costing around Kshs 10,000, glue, papers for packing and cartons. The good thing is that my father lso sells half bags (45 kilograms)of the tea, which I can by and pack in small quantities of 15 gram, 25 gram, 50 gram and 100 grams. This will cut my whole cost to about Kshs 33,000. If I sell the mixture which can take a maximum of 2 weeks, the profit will be between Kshs 13,000 and 17,000 after deducting all charges and expenses. This will in turn help me to attain my ambition if I increase the input and output. I will be earning much better. I come before you the Zidisha microfinance and lenders to help me and I am not going to let you down at all.

Loan Proposal

I will buy wth the loan and my savings inputs for my business. I particular, I will buy processed tea that is in bags, glue, papers and cartons. The bags of 90 kilogram my father will sell me half each of 45 kilogram. The papers will be of 10 grams, 15 grams, 25 grams, 50 grams and 100 grams. I will pack the mixture of different types of tea which have different qualities in the papers. Each sale of 5 half bags that are packed in the papers will give me a profit of Kshs13,000 to 17,000. The money will be beneficial to me a lot in building my business and making it large in future. The money from the lenders will help me to catch up since what I have saved is not enough. Thank you for the support you give me

    Hi John
Thanks for the repayment in late January.
Again I say if you are having trouble with the repayments, please formally reschedule them in order to stop your On-Time Repayment score from falling further.
I hope that all is well.

    Hi John
I notice that the repayments have fallen behind.
If you are having trouble with the repayments, you may wish to formally reschedule them in order to protect your On-Time Repayment score, which will be critical should you require to borrow in future.
I hope that all is well.

I have been doing good althrough and my business doing well since the time you supported me for the first time. My business is at boom right now and I would like to increase repayment and get another loan as before january so in order to add stock of tea materials which is in shortage than the demand. we are competing with people who have a lot of money and it is only there where they surpass me. Thank you for your consideration.

It is good that I now see hope in zidisha because loans have started funding fully. I was worried that there could be problems in zidisha and the way it is a good one for our future.
