About Me

Am Jacob Seme born 35 years ago in the current Kakamega County, I currently live in Nakuru in search of daily bread. I’m married to one wife and by extension also support the academic needs of my brother and sister in college and high school. My dear wife is in charge of our family business as a design and fashion consultant in African wear, soft furnishings, interior decor etc.
I self sponsored my college education due to financial inability of my mother to see me through and today am a counseling psychologist. Previously I worked as an investment consultant where I gained experience in marketing, customer care and after sales service for 7 years. However this is not what I was so passionate about, I wanted to do public speaking so that I could help empower the community. This informed my decision to resign and start a training organization in 2008 called Empower Enterprises which I later re-branded to Insight Research and Training Experts. I chose to venture into training industry because of the passion to help people enhance their life skills in Personal Development and Entrepreneurship in order to achieve success by their own definition. I’m glad that through Zidisha I will achieve this goal because of your objective to help small businesses grow up by offering loans on friendly terms unlike other financial institutions that make it hard for us ignoring the economic impact we make in the country

My Business

I have over the last 6 years been providing mentorship training to secondary school students on matters personal development and entrepreneurship,alcohol and substance abuse,effective study habits,peer pressure,sexuality among other related issues in line with in and out of school challenges after conducting a baseline needs analysis.
In a single term of 3 months i do 6 trainings where i visit 6 schools and then do a follow up to find out the impact made after training.Public schools pay between $60-$80 per talk while private schools pay between $100-$150.On average i visit 2 schools per month because of the school schedules that is limiting at times.I supplement my income by doing trainings for organizations where i charge $200 for team building and $320 for capacity building training.I manage to get 1 talk every month in addition to handling events as an MC where i charge $60 on every event.
A good month when all activities run i make between $200 and $300 which i use on family matters and to finance my education.My running costs are so minimal because i only use transport to the schools which ranges between $3-$5.I have a desktop computer and a laptop which help me to prepare my presentations.

Loan Proposal

My objective in this industry is to raise human potential in all areas of their life so as they can tap into their God given talent in order to achieve success. I started the business with a capital of Kshs.40,000 own funding which I used to buy a laptop, modem for Internet and paying for the office
I train people in enterprise development, staff development, entrepreneurship, power of personal mastery, paradigm shift, team building and individual mentorship programs among others as client needs dictate
My monthly expenses are Kshs. 5000 i.e. office space and utilities and Kshs. 3000 for marketing material incurred at the beginning of the year. Operational costs are low because training is an intangible product and service that a customer buys into. Most of the training material was obtained during the initial stages of opening the business. Transport, accommodation and meals for events outside Nakuru town are mete by the client. Training charges per event range from Kshs.5000-Kshs 15000 per day but also varies based on the clients needs, type of client, topics and time (duration).I have had the opportunity of training cooperates and individuals groups over time
However the first quarter of the year is normally a low season due to the fact that institutions are putting their houses in order and planning for the year. During this time I manage 2-3 trainings in a month, the remaining part of the year is good season and more trainings are done
I’m writing an inspirational book as a way of reaching out to many people and do believe that through Zidisha the organization will grow to serve many. I seek to enlist your financial help towards this course
