I am Linet Makokha,I grew up in small village in western kenya. My parents were peasant farmers .i was the third born in our family . I went to Lwanya girls and later joined Bukura technical institute for diploma in agriculture.
After completing my diploma I searched for a job with little success. After 3 years of unsuccessful search I decided to settle on farming.I did not think it will turn out well but just gave it a try.after 3 months i started harvesting my first kale's,I got good money and decided farming was the way to go.I have expanded my farm to two acres and looking forward to make it a demonstration unit.
I come from Bukusu land .we have diverse culture which include traditional sons, male circumcision and traditional dances.
I do not have children at the moment. I like reading novels and playing basketball during my free time.
I am a n upcoming commercial farmer.I grow horticultural crops in my farm eg beans, tomatoes, capsicums, and onions.I use irrigation in my farm to protect my crops from harsh weather.
Due growing population and low rates of youths will to farm the need for agricultural produce keep bulging and most of the horticulture used in western kenya is imported from uganda, therefore there is ready market for local farmers .
I choose these business after tarmacking for three years. I hard lots of information and knowledge about farming and that's why i choose these business.
I spend $200 on manure, and labor.I try to minimize use of chemicals in my farm and looking forward to go organic fully soon.my monthly revenues is $900. in a good month I make $300 profit.I use the money to take care of my family and reinvest in my farm.
Dear lenders ,I hope you are doing well and fine.I am doing well here just busy with the farm work . The tomatoes are doing well and have started flowering. I am requesting for a $200 loan that would help me buy organic fertilizer for top dressing. The fertilizer will help in the flowering and formation of good tomato fruits. it will all reduce the rates of immature fruits dropping. .My harvest would increase and would be much better.Thank you in advance.
