My name is Sarah Simiyu. I have a diploma in natural resources from the university of Nairobi. After graduation I had a hard time getting a job and so I lived from hand to mouth struggling until I decided to employ myself which has come with their own challenges. I am currently making chocolate and selling them as a hawker because they need better presentation and a ltd company before they can be supplied in supermarkets. I need a loan for inventory and when I build my base, I may just open a shop to sell them since Supermarkets have a raw deal that needs a lot of cash as well as a long waiting period. I'll want to expand into sesame seed packing when I have enough funds.
I make dark chocolate nuggets which I hawk to get cash. Chocolate nuggets are being accepted in the market because they act as an aid to memory and as such, a lot of people are accepting them. I chose this business because I needed to educate the African masses the value of these chocolates which are called brain food. When hawking, I normally get about 2,600/- per day. I use the cash I get to pay Rent, transport, and restocking. It's a tough business. Once I have the shop, I'll add sweets, unsalted and salted sesame seeds and crisps to the list of goods that I want to sell.
I intend to pay for the boxes to pack the chocolate nuggets. They cost 7,000/- but I am paying in bits until I complete.
