About Me

I am a 38 years old married man with two daughters; the elder one being 10years and the younger one four years old. I work in Sales . I am also a committed Christian and Church elder.

I have a Bachelor of Commerce degree, which equips me with entrepreneurial skills.

I wish to get a loan to improve my livestock farming, i.e. to buy dairy goats to add onto my flock. I started a livestock farming project in Embu about a year ago, currently with five ordinary/non-dairy goats, and ten chicken. In the long term, I also hope to diversify my dairy farming to include dairy cattle, and farther in future extend to a milk processing plant, commercial biogas, and marketing of the same.

Dairy goat milk is in high demand in Kenya, with a litre retailing at $ 3. This would earn me $ 9 per day, since the goat produces approx. 3 litres per day, which would translate to $ 270 per month. I hope to gradually establish a flock of dairy goats to eventually 20 goats, which will be earning me $ 5,400 per month.

My wife recently opened a kindergarten business, which I have been funding from my monthly salary. I also pay school fees for my two daughters, and support two orphaned nieces with their school fees and general upkeep, which leaves me a bit strained financially.

Your financing towards my loan application will go a long way in ensuring that I am financially stable, and able to support them more effectively.

My Business

I am employed in the sales department, which makes it easy for me to repay the loan on monthly instalments.

My intended business is dairy farming. I have began with dairy goat farming, planning to eventually expand to dairy cattle, and in the long term a milk processing plant, and commercial biogas.

Loan Proposal

Thanks to all lenders for the first two loans, which enabled me to buy two dairy goats.

I am glad to apply for a third loan after successfully repaying the first two.

I wish to apply for approx. USD 150 which I intend to use to buy a materials to enhance the paddocks and also nappier grass seedlings, among other farm inputs to be planted as sustainable goat feeds.

I will gradually expand my flock of dairy goats for the purpose of supplying milk to the community in Embu District and possibly beyond since this is in high demand but very minimal supply currently. This is the gap I wish to bridge.

I appeal to lenders to lend me this amount to help me take this project to the next level.

How are things going now? Has the price for milk improved?

Still struggling - Business didn't pick up very well even after March - More farmers have taken up dairy goat rearing, forcing us to lower milk prices from competition.

    Hi George,
Thank you for catching up with your repayments.
How is the new town, are you far from where you used to live?
Are you still rearing the goats?
    All the best

I regret to request to lower my weekly installment amounts a second time.

I was forced to relocate due to change job changes, which made me spend quite a bit transferring my two daughters to new schools (Fees, uniforms, books, etc), and also advance rent deposits.

This got further complicated after my new employer told me that I will not be required to report for work until 1st March - Business also being quite low in the last two months, this left me without a sustainable means of livelihood for quite some time.

I hope to be back on my feet, financially, towards the end of March and will then readjust my repayment amounts correspondingly.

I am sorry to hear of your work issues, I hope you can get back on your feet soon.
Good to hear that the family is all in good health.
Can you tell me, with a change of work location, are you still rearing the goats?
      Regards

      Hi Michael,

I am glad to hear from you.

All is well - My family and I have been in good health.

Business has been quite low, most customers having overspent on back-to-school expenses, which has forced me to reschedule my repayment amounts.

I am hopeful that the situation will turn around towards the end of March.

      Regards,

      George

Attached too is a photo of my daughter as she underwent treatment.

NB: I experienced a slight mixup in my 19th Dec. payment of Ksh. 1,000.00 ($ 10), which did not reflect on my account as I paid using a different phone number from my regular phone number.

    Dear Zidisha Team,

I greatly appreciate your assistance in growing my business.

Te recent loan helped me buy another dairy goat - I will be able to post photos soon after Christmas.

I am, however, unable to pay the size of weekly installments earlier planned as I have recently had an issue at the family level which left me financially strained.

My younger daughter got an attack from a bad strain of tonsillitis, and I had to spend more than $ 100 on her medication and treatment.

I therefore wish to reschedule my weekly repayments to $ 3 per week, for several weeks until I stabilize financially again.

I will raise my weekly contributions to slightly above the current amount, once I have stabilized, so that I am able to clear the payment within the period earlier planned.

Your approval of my request is appreciated.

      Hi George,
As a Lender, I am not sure how you officially reschedule your repayments.
Please take whatever action you need to.
Your family's health must come first.
Thank you for keeping us informed and we wish your daughter a speedy recovery.

        Hi Michael,

Thank you for the concern - She is fast recovering.

I have to keep her on multi-vitamins as her immunity is a bit low.

I succeeded in configuring the loan reschedule.

I will update as soon as I am able to increase my weekly amounts again.

        Happy holidays.
