I am Mercy Kalunde from Kitui in Kenya. I am a mother to one boy named Mike. I am a diploma holder in International Relations and also travel and tourism (IATA). I decided to venture into business after looking for a job for so long and not getting any reliable offers.
With the help of my family and my personal savings, I opened my wines and spirits parlour. It was challenging at first but with time I got used to it and learned business tactics on how to grow my business. It's been two years since I started my business and so far so good. I have learned how to survive and what to avoid to ensure my business thrives.
My business is mainly in wines and spirits. It's located in Mbitini market in Kitui County. This is my main source of income.
I have a plot that I would like to use for a new venture I found. I would like to start growing papaya/pawpaw. I have done my market research well and bought a variety of seeds known as Solo sunrise pawpaw. This is a dwarf variety that starts producing fruits after 9months.
This loan will assist me in buying a water tank where I can store my irrigation water and watering cans. I will also use part of it to pay for labour of preparing the land for transplantation of the seedlings. I am preparing my nursery bed already and should be transplanting my seedlings in December.
