About Me

Born and raised in Kisumu as the eldest child, I am the son of peasant teachers - raised to love technology and to become responsible for my siblings from a very tender age. We often went by without food or adequate clothing. However, this emboldened me to find and build a future in which we can improve the lives of, not just ourselves, but everyone we come into contact with.

My love for technology saw me enroll for Diploma in IT at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology, and later, a Bachelors in the same from KCA University. I am a curious, intellectual and focused individual, and have spent the last 10 years of my career working with the poor in our rural communities rolling out poverty alleviation programs in the NGO sector.

I co-founded Egolit Sarinah Limited to continue to build solutions for our people - from a technology perspective. The proliferation of mobile phones has opened a flood gate of cloud computing, one touch engagements with clients and customers among other possibilities. I look forward to my 2 sons growing up in a world in which they have endless possibilities - and their achievements are only limited by their effort and ability to focus and use their available technology at hand. I wish to create -with Egolit Sarinah Limited - opportunities for more young people to appreciate and see the unlimited potential in and around them.

My Business

I am the majority shareholder for Egolit Corporation Limited, a Kenyan ICT company. I have always been fascinated with technology, and went to university to study IT. I believe in using technology to solve everyday problems, such as the difficulty of juggling the arduous job of finding a suitable residence within our cities, and leading a busy everyday life.

For the busy, upwardly mobile tech-savvy individual who needs to quickly, seamlessly and affordably find a new house to move to, Egolit Sarinah Limited intends to provide a house search platform that connects prospective tenants affordably to vacant houses and moving companies. The mobile app seamlessly fits into the user’s lifestyle and provides a rich, personalized experience. We expect to reach more than a million of Kenya's urban population of more than 5million within our first year.

In order to achieve this, we will need to hire experienced developers, business development officer to interface with our tenants and landlords, and user experience executives to serve our clientele. We will need to conduct iterative research on the best User Experiences, User Interfaces, Features and Pricing for the app.

Loan Proposal

For the busy, upwardly mobile tech-savvy individual who needs to quickly, seamlessly and affordably find a new house to move to, I wish to create a house search platform that connects prospective tenants affordably to vacant houses and moving companies. It is my plan that the app seamlessly fits into the user’s lifestyle and provides a rich, personalized experience.

I am requesting for funding to be able to hire an experienced mobile programmer to co-create this app with me. Typically, a mobile programmer costs upwards of $30 per hour, and we would need to work together for at least 3 weeks to get our first Minimum Viable Product out. This would translate to ~$630. We would also need to hire a customer experience executive to help us gather and interprete feedback from our customers on the User Interface, Features, Cost of ownership, etc. This would cost us at least $150. Finally, we would need to hire a full time marketer to create hype around the app before launch, and to grow our portfolio after launch. This would cost us ~$150. In total, we would need at least $1000 to get off the ground, and $300 on an ongoing basis.
