About Me

I am John Saitoti Teeka, an enthusiastic young person who has embraced farming as a business besides being a food security guarantee.
Having realized the ever underlying risks associated with the excess usage of harmful pesticides in agriculture, I decided to try pyrethrum farming because it offers a natural alternative to the synthetic pesticides used in the mainstream. Pyrethrum has been fetching me good returns on a weekly basis, although the recent drought affected production.
Additionally, I also farm vegetables like tomatoes, kales, and the traditional vegetables as part of my agribusiness.

My Business

I am a young person doing agribusiness in Gilgil, Nakuru County, Kenya. I have planted about half an acre of pyrethrum, which earns good returns every week.

Project Proposal

I am John Saitoti Teeka, an enthusiastic young person who has embraced farming as a business besides being a food security guarantee.
Having realized the ever underlying risks associated with the excess usage of harmful pesticides in agriculture, I decided to try pyrethrum farming because it offers a natural alternative to the synthetic pesticides used in the mainstream. Pyrethrum has been fetching me good returns on a weekly basis, although the recent drought affected production.
Additionally, I also farm vegetables like tomatoes, kales, and the traditional vegetables as part of my agribusiness. The pyrethrum crop was however affected by the January-March drought, and the production declined. This being my main cash crop to support the other farming ventures, I have been unable to acquire the right amount of fertilizer required to do proper farming. I require about 50Kgs of fertilizer, and it is currently selling at a government subsidized price of Ksh. 2500.
Additionally, my pyrethrum crop requires spraying with Boomflower Foliar fertilizer to help increase the production. This requires about Ksh.1000.
The attached photograph gives a clear view of my land, the pyrethrum crop, and the empty field that has been prepared ready for planting tomatoes and other vegetables.
It is for this reason that I have come to the Zidisha community to seek assistance to raise about Ksh.4000 to help me acquire these vital farming inputs that are main earner of a livelihood.
