About Me

I started rearing poultry in 2013 and the main objective was to help me generate income since I was unemployed. The small Poultry farming is demanding as food and medical cost is high for me to maintain without getting support from other sources. These challenges i am facing have forced me to go out beyond my yards and look for people who will support me to cater for Poultry feed, Medicine and the expansion of the poultry project.

My Business

This is an ideal project that provides daily income with a ready market especially the eggs and flesh which is the main source of protein. I am sourcing funds to buy 100 more chicks.
There is an increasing demand for poultry meat and eggs in Kitale Town and surrounding towns because of general improvement of standard of living of the people. Poultry is the most promising enterprises in the area. This is because they require little space and relatively small initial capital per unit head compared to other livestock enterprises. There is easy availability of month-old chicks and animal feeds as well as animal drugs on the market, as well as qualified veterinary personnel in the area.
The market for eggs, the demand is far above the supply of eggs and is always a
deficit. The rate at which the layers are increasing is much lower than the population
growth rate; hence, the market for eggs is always growing. Due to short distances from the farm to Kitale Town and the other towns, the transport costs would be low. Therefore this project has economic advantage in marketing its products and a better profit margin.
The poultry project needs 1 room, holding 200 birds. Poultry farming is labour intensive enterprises and i will require to have a person to help with the work. The feeds for the poultry farm will be bought from Agricultural supplies shop in Kitale town. The cost of the feeds will be paid to this enterprise at every delivery.
