My names are Anne Muthoni Ngunia.I am a final year student at United States International University (U.S.I.U) pursuing a bachelor degree in Business Administration-FinanceI.I have in the past 3 years engaged myself in poultry farming at my parents home from which I raise my sons pre-unit school fees, my college fees and upkeep. Besides poultry farming I also do book keeping services for friends with business.
Poultry farming is one of the most competitive businesses in Kiambu County. Fortunately the demand is more than supplies when you identify with the right customers. I specialize in layers for production of eggs. I have been able to establish regular clients who maintain constant orders among them are retail shopkeepers, bakers and hoteliers.Infact i am overwhelmed by the orders some of which am unable to meet the demands.
I started with 50 layers after i sold them out; the profits motivated me to put up enough space to accommodate 100 layers. with 100 layers I could sell 4 trays of eggs per day @300(3.42 dollars) per tray amounting to sh36000(411.56 dollars).Expenses are feeds drugs and water that add up to Kshs 15000(171.48 dollars). My profit by the end of the month is Kshs 21000(240 dollars).
I look forward to rearing 300 layers. Projected income for the 300 layers is
10 trays per day Kshs 90,000(1028.92 dollars)
Feeds & others Kshs 40,000(475.29 dollars)
Profit Kshs 50,000(571.62 dollars)
The challenge i have now is a short fall of enough capital. I want to expand the shade and get a casual employee to assist me the times I am in class. The materials I need are timber, cages, nails, chicken mesh and iron sheets. The cost for this expansion is Kshs 7,000(80.02 dollars). When i heard of how Zidisha has transformed medium based businesses to other levels of success i was overjoyed by the idea.It is for this reason that i appel to Zidisha lenders to help me grow my poultry farm by extending me the loan. Thanks in advance as you look forward to financing me
When I get this loan,it will help me improve on my poultry project in the following ways;,buying of nails at 11.43 dollars, buying of wire mesh at 6.85 dollars,17.14 dollars for timber and labour for 4.57 dollars.Despite the fact that I still have deficit of about 40 dollars for improved cages am happy that through this small loan I will be able to see some of the followings the returns the loan will create; improved and quality poultry farming that will help me get a bigger and better market since the chicken are in good shape, the expected benefit is likely to shoot up especially when all chicken starts laying eggs. which will see me making almost double the output. The returns will then help expand my farm by increasing the number of chicken and also employ a few people.
