About Me

Am Eunice Kiptoo single with a daughter, having grown up in the Riftvalley part of Kenya in a family of 4 and being the last born, I was brought up by my mother and this was really challenging since we depended on farming having a small land to cultivate. Farming was the major activity at home hence at a tender age I was introduced to cultivating and poultry farming which was an interesting thing to do since I could plant many variety of crops and keep all sort of birds. I always aspired to be a graduate when I grew up but the dream was crashed when I finished high school and there was no school fees to go to college hence I had to search for jobs to try and raise cash to go back to school but due to low wages from promotions in supermarkets in town, I started small business near home to boost me in farming and also managed to do a course in Information Technology. This I must say was a great stepping stone in my life and I was so grateful to God for allowing me a chance to go for higher learning. I am always passionate about empowering young people in the community and for that reason in my church I always inspire young people to be passionate to education since it’s a bridge to success.
I have always wanted to be my own boss and with the help of my entrepreneurship skills and being an outspoken person, I boldly ventured into urban farming last year whereby I am doing poultry farming, horticulture with the support of my family.
I love baking, traveling, freelancing and interior design.

My Business

My farming business is approximately 2years old. I begun with poultry farming; Broiler and layers keeping to be precise in a small pent house but i have managed to expand the room to rear more. this made me grow big since i sell eggs and broilers. i start the business with an income of $350 and now i manage profit of $22 per week which totals up to approximately $100 a month. And when i realized it was successful, i decided to expand it by selling the idea to my parents who boosted the business by increasing the stock. Today i rear a variety of chickens that is broilers, layers and indigenous chicken. I recently ventured into turkey and goose rearing since there is a ready market in the supermarkets and 5-star hotels in Kenya. Eating healthy with chemical-free vegetables led me to begin cultivating Spinach and kale whose demand is high locally where very few people in the urban area do farming. Finally i recently began marketing online using my brothers site in older to advance in the area of my career that is Information and Technology. i am looking forward for a bright future in my farming business to boost my education.

Loan Proposal

Loan Proposal
What I will buy with the once granted the Loan I will purchase the following:
1. Increase feeders (4 pieces @$9 each) and drinkers (4 pieces @$4 each) for my flock.
2. Purchase a bale of egg trays since my 50 chicken layers are starting to lay eggs @ $12.
3. Purchase 100day old local cock chicks with the target of selling them in the December holiday when the cocks sell like hot cake @$1.2 each.

Total=$68

Exchange rate= $1:Ksh. 88
2)The benefit this will create to me and others.
-This loan will be beneficial to me because once i improve the feeding and drinking of the chickens, productivity will increase since birds are usually more productive when they can access feeds and water any time without having to wait for other birds to feed first.
-Purchasing egg trays will help me to comfortably and safely pack eggs for sale.
-Purchase of 10cock chicks will fetch me about $136 after 8 months after selling each at $1.14. With this income i will be in a position to increase my donation to the less fortunate.
3) Profit increase that i expect for a business.
-The 10 cocks that i will bring up will cost me about $45 to feed and to maintain hence giving me a profit of $68.
-If i provide the 50 Layer chickens with enough feeders and drinkers, egg production will increase from 50% to 75% hence selling more eggs.
