My name is Anthony Njoroge, a graduate of Kenyatta University with B.Sc. Energy Engineering. I was born in Gatundu South, Kiambu County. I am married with one daughter. I got interest in Renewable Energy, Agriculture and Social Work. I have been in employment since I graduated in 2008 till Oct., 2013. In my employments I have done product research, design and implementation, Facilities Energy Audit and projects design. I also have done marketing and distribution of renewable energy products through structured distributorship. On occasions I helped in the compilation of renewable energy editorials for published magazines. It is this expertise that I want to employ in the pursuit of my vision of having a company or companies that offers products and services in line with my areas of interest. I have been doing quail farming in an area known as Gatundu. Besides the eggs I collect everyday, I also get eggs from others farmers and sale. I sell quail chicks, do quail farming trainings and seminars. This creates for me a wider stream of income.
Thanks a lot Zidisha for the opportunity to express my need. I got interest in Renewable Energy Technologies, agriculture and social work.
I have been doing business in quail farming for a while now. Basically, I sell 1). Quail Eggs 2). Quail Chicks and 3). Quail Meat. I sell consumption eggs and incubation/fertilized eggs. The cost of producing one quail egg is no more than KES 4 and I currently sell it at KES 30 per egg. I have also started collecting eggs from other farmers which I sell to the grocery stores in the major towns. I have been selling 2 weeks old chicks and currently selling at about KES 300 and the cost of producing each is about KES 100 though the market price is projected to come down slightly to about 70% of that price. I have also started selling dressed quail meat at KES 300 per piece. This is generally from the culled flock. Am also exploring the most viable value addition undertaking.
I sell portable solar lighting kits and imported clean cookstoves to the rural and rural-urban communities with a margin of about 25%.
I recently started running a printed classified ads magazine with targeted circulation in Nairobi Central Business District. The magazine generate revenues through the sale of advertisement space to the business owners in Nairobi and other regions.
I want to buy incubator turning accessories and egg setter. This accessories will be used to adjust the current incubator that I have into a higher capacity one. This way, the incubator will have a higher incubation capacity of quail eggs which will see higher output and hence increase the revenue generation. This will increase profitability and reduce order filling time.
