My Business

The project will benefit 2 households (Ibu Masronah and Ibu Darsini) in the remote sub-villages and will target the poorest segment of the population in the project area, including smallholders cultivating less than about one hectares, landless labourers, unemployed youth, and woman-headed households. Agriculture is the primary field of employment in the village of Tempuran and Nyemoh Jawa Tengah. However, the poverty and unemployment rates are high.
Most farmers live from small scale farms vulnerablewhich yield just enough to satisfy daily family needs. Marketing of agricultural products or professional agribusiness is hardly possible for individuals. Women are especially affected by unemployment due to still prevailing traditional role models. They are marginalised in policy making and are under-represented in income-generating activities. Joint activities to promote sustainable livelihood and participation of women are therefore of particular importance to enhance economic growth of the rural areas.
District of Semarang is one of the districts most vulnerable to climate change, with impacts ranging from extreme weather events and random floodings to droughts and food scarcity, climate change has been a constant reality that many of Semarang have to face. Bamboo, a social common capital contributes to the social, economic, and ecological development of a region. WALHI Jawa Tengah strongly believes that bamboo can provide a wide array of solutions to the farmers poor problems, bamboo can help save the environment, can contribute to building safe communities with people enjoying a sustainable community-based alternative livelihood in rural region of Semarang.
