About Me

Am jones.igrew up in mukuru slums where all right are deprived. Right to education;good environment; security;health just to mention. I had opportunity to have education but my parent struggled much to what yu can't think.ina family of 9 in single house in mukuru slums.
I saw how my mom struggled todevelop us. One of the problem was how to service when we all retire from evening.emagine 9children in single room.how do they eat;sleep ;socialize and share inside that single room
The food sharing was story itself.sleeping was also another tragic mace.the smoke of my old mom charcoal jiko was my enemy.also our kerosine old stove before we serve food was to be switched off.Gosh what a smoke/smell
This made our inside house grow thick dark black tar/cover.every morning everyone could wake up with heavy chest;all our clothes smelling smoke.even today my mom hasn't recovered from respiratory problem
This such story of one ironmade house among millions of such houses in mukuru slums.experience is good teacher they say.when I finished my university degree one of my supporters told me "go back now to your community; see how you can make changes there. They need you now.you can be who you wanted to be just from where you are."
For a start I realized many moms in the slums spend a lot of time cooking with pollutive wood;poisonous kerosinestoves and many used charcoal jikos.many would cry tears from smoke;many like my mom now have respiratory related problems.our sisters even spend a lot of time to prepare meals.to make it worse we had a lot of fires caused by these poor stoves which rendered many homeless; burns and even loss of loved ones.
Due to these.I decided to find a solution that could solve the problem. I shared to to one of my best friend Mr harrystokes who introduced me to not only solution to our problem in the slums but therapy for the country
From then have been providing solutions to clean cook;indoor health provisions.To many places have been;many have saluted my stove and have requested more and more due to its unique features;importance and significance..
My hope is to provide 10000 stoves to the poor moms ;families and all in need of clean cookstoves Before 2017.
The journey started officially last year.the work involves also training; demos; presentation ;empowerment and training of trainers; and also helping women and youth girls make Small business out of it
It has been my hobby to voluteeer my time helping mother have the best cook.

This is part of mystory the rest is history

My Business

I sell stove .each stove makes sh500 profit.many women have shown a lot of interest due to the stoves uniqueness; smokeless; cooks faster;efficiency compared to the other stoves
After what I learned many moms and girls goes through as they cook.many have respiratory problems;fire issues related with other poor stoves;our sisters spending a lot of time took

The profit have so far made have been used to train women to form groups to make work easier; train coordinators TOTs;
Have bought simple phones of sh 1500to my poor members and reprentatives whose some have paid cash and others in two instalments
Am also planing to provide small solar panels/gadgets for the members mostly in my rural/slum areas
Due to what I went with my sisters and brothers raised in one room.many other children face the same. Many sleep at night in cold floor and others in tiny blankets and matreseses. Planing to start oofering cheap blankets and matreses to those poor families

Loan Proposal

Will purchase more clean cook stoves.each stove cost 40usd . for my new customers who have requested.
There has been increased number of customers requesting in the slums and in my rural area. The profit I will get will expand the business and also care for my family and my sick mom.
My grand mother aged 82 now enjoys cooking with the stove.need to offer such to many old grannies especially during this coming elnino rainy season. They experience a lot when collecting firewood and also Cooking with wet wood.its also my hearted gratitude will see the need to offer the identified disabled mothers the best comfortable cookstove where happily they can cook without spending a lot of time in Kitchen
They can enjoy even in their sitting room or anyplace of their wish since is smokeless Stove and has shown least risk in many place it has been used.
Due to increased demand of the stove my profit will double each and every month

    we will be having Universal Health Coverage Day event.
    walk this coming December12th 2015 to sensitize many slum communities on the effects of indoor pollutants at mukuru slums.never knew many families has been affected by the indoor polution due to lack of better clean stoves for thier daily cooking.
    in my daily routine to evaluate my women in rural areas .also noticed that many girls spend alot of time to collect undried few firewood in the already finished/destroyed forests and inaddition more time to prepare thier food to thier families in the evening making it hard to have more time for thier studies.
    more so old grannies are aslo finding it hard to collect firewood for cooking during this rainy season. many skipping thier supper.
    worst is the iisue the chacoal jikos has caised to many families this rain season both in rural villages and slums-;
    a}many children and women are posed to much smoke as they cook and heat thier small sigle homes.
    b}many accidents caused by funny smoky kerosine lumps and stoves
    c}the increased hiked prices of this charcoals and kerosine
    d}due to the introduction of the special stoves in the slums and rural areas many are now turning back to request for the stoves but the problem is to have money to pachese this stoves as many are small income earners
    will try my best to see if in future we can get well wishers who can provide revolving fund that can impact this communities

    i salute all who have made this start though the number is increasing and need more money to reach this
    God bless the work of good people

        Hi Jones, thanks for uploading the pictures. Seems as if your business idea is greatly appreciated by your community. Nevertheless, you'd first need to pay off your current loan in order to qualify for a new one with an increased amount. This is also best achieved by making on-time payments which would bring you better ratings visible to future lenders as reference for their investment.
